The Boston Area Rape Crisis Center is looking for a new full-time staff member. The Bilingual Hotline Counselor position is an opportunity for a resourceful, compassionate, client service-oriented person to bring their calming energy and solid interpersonal skills to an organization with an incredible mission and staff. Our ideal candidate will have experience in working with people in crisis by phone or in-person and a passion for being a bridge to resources and support.

About the position

The Bilingual Hotline Counselor is responsible for covering hotline shifts as needed throughout the week, ensuring that hotline callers’ immediate needs are met with high-quality response. The person in this position will also provide support and guidance to volunteer hotline counselors through regular supervision meetings and being their primary point-of-contact for support. This role will include overseeing the administrative aspects of the hotline, such as maintaining the 24/7 hotline schedule and planning volunteer appreciation events in collaboration with BARCC’s volunteer program coordinators.

The Bilingual Hotline Counselor will work closely with the Hotline Coordinator to ensure that the Hotline volunteer program is effective, efficient and meeting organizational goals.


Qualifications

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish
  • Experience with crisis intervention services is required, preferably with sexual violence survivors
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with impeccable attention to detail
  • Proven ability to organize and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Must be able to work both independently and in a team environment
  • Evening and weekend flexibility a must; two regular weeknights and occasional nights and weekends as needed typically for events
  • Must be committed to BARCC’s mission and philosophy


Starting Salary Range

$38,000 - 42,000, commensurate with experience, plus generous benefits package, including health, dental, vacation, sick time and other coverage options.
