Since 1973, the Boston Area Rape Crisis Center (BARCC) has been a leader in the movement to end sexual violence. BARCC empowers survivors of sexual violence to heal and provides education and advocacy for the social change needed to create cultures that prevent sexual violence. The role
This is an opportunity for an action-oriented leader to put their skills and experience to work managing the development team’s strategic efforts to expand the base of supporters and diversify and increase revenue for BARCC. This is an opportunity to join a dynamic, growth-oriented team and organization and to build on our successful foundation. We are seeking candidates who have a track record of strategic leadership and growth of comprehensive, multi-channel, data-driven fundraising programs.

Where and when you’ll work
BARCC's staff, operations, hours, and location vary by function, type of work, and work style. You’ll work from our Cambridge office, located at 99 Bishop Allen Drive in Central Square.

This is a 40-hour, full-time position with occasional evening hours as well as three weekend dates for special events. BARCC is open to discussing options such as flexibility in scheduling and occasional remote work.

What you’ll do
  • Develop and direct a strategic, measurable annual development plan.
  • Lead and motivate a six person team to work collaboratively to achieve departmental goals including annual fund, major gifts, special events and private grants.
  • Manage and steward an active portfolio of prospects and leadership donors with emphasis on soliciting $5,000 - $50,000 gifts.
  • Staff the Executive Director and External Relations and Development Senior Director in managing portfolios of prospects and major donors.
  • Oversee and collaborate with the annual fund team to advance the annual giving program to meet and increase goals for unrestricted giving, donor and alumni participation, programming, appeals, and total income.
  • Set annual metrics for frontline fundraisers and help motivate them to achieve their personal and team goals.
  • Oversee the writing, production, and analysis of all development materials.
  • Establish performance measures and create tools to measure the effectiveness and return on investment of each development effort.

You’ll bring
  • 7 + years of increasing experience and success in fundraising from multiple donor channels, including leadership annual gifts, annual appeals (including online and direct mail), corporate, foundations, events and peer-to-peer fundraising.
  • Demonstrated experience managing a comprehensive, multi-channel, data-driven annual giving program, preferably a multi-disciplinary fundraising team including major gifts, grant writing, and special events.
  • Experience growing annual fund programs and increasing a donor base.
  • Experience motivating, training and evaluating frontline fundraisers and volunteers.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and use of moves management to identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward new and existing donors with capacity to give five-figure gifts.
  • Must have experience developing fundraising plans, frontline fundraiser metrics and annual budgets.
  • Knowledge of national trends and best practices in fundraising.
  • Strong organization and project management skills with the ability to juggle competing priorities under pressure while managing near- and long-term deadlines.
  • Experience translating vision into clear project plans and action steps.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to quickly and regularly adjust strategy based on giving trends.
  • Experience with Salesforce NPSP, Lightning preferred.
  • Work or volunteer experience with a sexual violence prevention and response organization strongly preferred.

Starting salary range and benefits
$95,000 - 100,000, depending on experience and skills. The total compensation package includes a generous benefits package, including health, dental, vacation, sick time, and other coverage options.
