Job Summary:
The Development Specialist is a key contributor to advancing Camp Fire First Texas’ mission, focused on annual giving and fundraising special events management to support the organization’s strategic goals. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of achieving fundraising targets, strong organizational skills, and a passion for cultivating meaningful donor relationships. 

 

Annual Giving Campaigns
Support annual giving efforts, including direct mail, digital campaigns, and multi-channel appeals, with a focus on donor acquisition, retention, and growth. Analyze campaign performance and drive participation in community fundraising events like North Texas Giving Day.

 

Donor Portfolio Management
Manage a portfolio of donors, fostering meaningful relationships through personalized communication, stewardship plans, and cultivation strategies to grow engagement and giving.

 

Event and Volunteer Management
Coordinate major fundraising events, ensuring revenue targets and timelines are met by managing event logistics and volunteer committees, while evaluating outcomes for continuous improvement. Support Camp Fire program needs by recruiting and filling volunteer opportunities.

 

Support Advancement Operations
Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Proven experience in fundraising, including annual giving campaigns, donor retention, and relationship management.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a talent for crafting persuasive support narratives.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Experience working with volunteers

 

Preferred Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Experience in donor acquisition strategies and managing a donor portfolio to achieve fundraising targets.
  • Demonstrated ability to cultivate relationships with diverse stakeholders
  • Familiarity with donor management software (e.g., Bloomerang, Raiser’s Edge NXT, or similar).
  • Expertise in nonprofit fundraising best practices and event planning.
  • Knowledge of the Fort Worth philanthropic community and key funding opportunities.

 

Essential Functions:

Specific Duties

Annual Giving Campaigns

  • Assist Director of Development in planning annual fundraising activities to meet department’s strategic goals.
  • Execute and monitor fundraising appeals, including Annual Giving, End of Year, North Texas Giving Day, and Camperships, to meet defined revenue targets.
  • Collaborate with the marketing team to develop compelling multi-channel solicitations.
  • Analyze appeal performance to identify opportunities for improvement and growth.
  • Create and implement strategies to acquire new donors and retain existing ones, fostering increased donor engagement.

Donor Portfolio Management

 

  • Manage a portfolio of donors, focusing on cultivation, retention, and upgrades.
  • Develop and implement individualized stewardship plans to deepen donor relationships.
  • Regularly engage donors through visits, personalized updates, and recognition opportunities.
  • Maintain donor records in Bloomerang (CRM), tracking engagement and funding opportunities.

Event and Volunteer Management

  • Serve as the primary coordinator for fundraising events, including An Artists’ Christmas and El Tesoro de la Vida Benefit Dinner.
  • Curate and secure items for silent and live auctions to achieve revenue targets.
  • Oversee event logistics, including budgets, timelines, vendor management, and sponsorship benefits fulfillment.
  • Lead communication with volunteer event committees, attending after-hours meetings as required.
  • Recruit and schedule volunteers to fill needs identified by program team, using Bloomerang Volunteer to create opportunities and track schedules and hours worked.
  • Ensure events align with fundraising goals and evaluate their outcomes for future improvement.

Support Advancement Operations

 

  • Maintain knowledge of Camp Fire programs, services, and operations
  • Healthy collaboration with the Advancement team is a must
  • Other duties as assigned
