Carondelet High School Athletic Director
The Athletic Director at Carondelet High School works with a team of athletic administrators in the Athletics Department under the supervision of the Vice Principal for Student Life and Mission. The Associate Athletic Director will oversee all coaches, staff and operational functions associated with all Carondelet athletics programs. The Athletic Director uses innovative thinking to create an efficient and effective athletics program with a vision and philosophy that aligns with the mission of the school. The Athletic Director exhibits strong verbal and written communication skills and proficiently manages internal and external media relations. This position is also responsible for athletics oversight and partnering with other campus departments on selected strategic initiatives.

Administrative Responsibilities
Internal Operations
Program and Department management
Develops plans, policies, procedures and programs which are in compliance with the school, the EBAL, NCS, and CIF rules and regulations and which reflect the high standard of academic excellence and the general welfare of student-athletes.
Ensures that coaching and staff actively supports the school’s joint commitment to academic achievement and growth of the whole child for each student-athlete.
Works with the Director of Facilities to maintain all Carondelet High School athletics facilities.
Along with the Associate Athletic Director, prepares for and conducts all pre-season meetings for coaches and parents/guardians.
Facilitates communication with coaches regarding practice schedules, upcoming games, and results of competitions.
Coordinates game management for all Carondelet athletic home contests and NCS host site events, including gate management, security, officials, scorekeepers and supervision of spectators. Acts as department liaison to all officials associations.
Coordinates and conducts the interview process for prospective coaches.
Collaborates with Associate Athletic Director to establish a process that will expedite hotel booking, transportation planning, and reconciliation of expenses for team travel.
Fill in for any role that presents itself related to coaching, supervision, or representation at all levels.
Finance and Budget Management
Submits reports, recommendations and supporting documentation to the Vice Principal and the President, as necessary, to make decisions regarding goals, academics, capital expansion, staffing, budget appropriations, scheduling and other aspects of the Carondelet Athletics program.
Develops and implements long term planning regarding not only fiscal needs for operations and capital improvements, but also internal goals for strengthening the Department.
Develops budget guidelines, approves budget appropriations for each area, and monitors conformance to budget.
Oversees fiscal operations, with the assistance of the CFO. The Athletics Director will have overall responsibilities for finance and facilities of the Athletics Department to ensure the practice of sound business techniques.
Prepares and processes payment requests for purchases and services rendered for the Athletics Department.
Works with the Controller to research and resolve discrepancies with billing/invoices.
Communication
Maintains open communication channels with students, faculty, administrators, alumni and friends of the school.
Coordinates the formulation of quarterly board reports on the present status and future plans for the athletics program.
External Operations
Act as institutional representative at bi-monthly league meetings and casts institutional vote for all league legislative changes. Sit on additional league and section committees as requested and conduct league sports meetings as needed.
Complete all annual NCS/CIF reporting requirements, including postseason applications as needed.
Promotes athletics excellence on local, conference and national levels for each sports program, to include coordinating the recruitment, selection and evaluation of all coaches.
Develops and implements programs to increase revenue sources for the Department to include effective plans for marketing and promotions as well as fund raising strategies to promote donor support of the athletics program.
Serves as the primary spokesperson of the Department promoting the philosophy and mission of the school with faculty, staff, students, alumni, sports media and the general public during public relations opportunities.
In partnership with the Director of Marketing and Communication, respond to all media requests and composes and disseminate press releases for internal and external publication (e.g., Carondeletter, local media) on all significant Carondelet sports events/stories.
The Athletics Director, in conjunction with the Associate Athletics Director, is expected to be a visible presence at the majority of home athletics contests.
Ensures that Carondelet Athletics has a relevant online presence on our website and social media platforms.
Responds to neighbor complaints and is a positive liaison between Carondelet High School and the local community.
Supports the development of dynamic summer sport clinics.
Develops and grows the athletics corporate sponsorship program in conjunction with the Development Team. Specific deliverables will be created and met and a review process of this program will be developed.
Works with the MarCom team to market, promote and develop outreach programs for all stakeholders including campus e-news, social media updates, etc.
Athlete Support
Create and distribute end-of-season student-athlete evaluations and conduct follow up conversations as needed to collect feedback to improve the programs.
Counsels coaches, parents, and student-athletes through athletics-related issues.
Collaborate with College and Career to create and conduct collegiate recruitment and eligibility workshops and education sessions.
Meet with incoming transfer students to coordinate the NCS/CIF transfer process and ensure all forms are completed correctly. Sign off on all outgoing transfer student applications.
Oversees the creation and execution of leadership and sportsmanship programming for student-athletes.
Department Oversight
Heads the Athletics Department and supervises the team including yearly evaluations.
Oversees the review and updating of the Student-Athlete Handbook on an annual basis.
Oversees the planning and execution of major department events like NLI commitment celebrations, seasonal parent meetings, etc.
Manages and oversees each sport through each coach.
In coordination with the Director of Human Resources, approves all employee contracts for the coaches, trainers, administrative staff and other personnel who work for the athletics department. Supervises their completion of Human Resources and CIF requirements.
Evaluates all contractors/coaches to ensure mission alignment and effective program success.
Oversees all athletic scheduling and game management.
Maintains an archive of athletics records, statistics, stories, and photographs.
Establishes and periodically refines departmental organizational structure to ensure the effective management of human resources.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree, Master’s degree preferred
5-7 years of related experience in sports management, sports information, business management.
Experience in sports complex management.
Coaching at the high school or college level is preferred.
Current knowledge of high school athletics and best practice in creating and sustaining a successful athletics program with highly competitive teams.
A solid understanding of women athletes and the secondary school environment
Flexibility in scheduling of days and hours will be necessary
Preference for a candidate with a strong understanding of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion best practice.
Technical/Functional skills:
Assesses data reflective of athletes’ status and interprets the appropriate information.

Strong leadership skills.

Comfortable with technology and digital platforms to create, facilitate, analyze data, and communicate with an aim towards effectuating positive professional and organizational change.
