Carondelet High School Campus Minister
Carondelet High School (About us) is seeking a full-time Campus Minister. The Campus Minister at Carondelet High School works with a campus ministry team under the supervision of the Director of Campus Ministry and is part of the Student Life Department. The Campus Minister helps to coordinate all areas related to the development and growth of the faith community of Carondelet High School, demonstrates a deep passion for the faith development of high school students, and challenges students to live out their faith with an all-inclusive love, as modeled by Jesus, through service to their dear neighbor. Members of the Campus Ministry Team also model intentional living, a life of prayer and contemplation, active engagement in social justice and a collaborative spirit.
Essential Responsibilities

Lives the mission of the school, in the CSJ tradition, through a thorough knowledge and understanding of the mission, vision, and values of Carondelet High School.

Advocates for students’ moral development within the larger Carondelet community.

Provides opportunities for growth in understanding of the Catholic faith.

Provides a compassionate presence for students who are hurting or struggling with faith; offers guidance in facing moral choices; refers students to appropriate resources for social emotional needs beyond pastoral care.

Fosters a community spirit consistent with the Carondelet Mission of “Unifying Love” among students, faculty, staff, alumnae, and parents, assuring respect for individual expressions of faith and attentiveness to the unique development of each student.

Administrative Responsibilities

Pastoral Care
-
Provides opportunities for growth in understanding of the Catholic faith.

Maintains a visible pastoral and spiritual presence on campus at major events throughout the school year.

Stays current with the experience of the greater Catholic community in the experiences of the Diocese of Oakland and Universal Catholic Church.

Accompanies students in their spiritual growth and understanding of their faith.

Programming - Retreats and Liturgy
-
Organizes and implements student retreat programs in collaboration with the Director of Campus Ministry / or Campus Ministry Team.
-
Coordinates retreat logistics, including, but not limited to: facilities reservations/contracts, food, supplies, chaperones, transportation, etc.

Implements systems of preparation and communication with students and parents
-
Facilitates student evaluation of retreats, to ensure that they meet the changing needs of the student body.

Coordinates liturgical celebrations of faith through communal prayer, seeking to include diverse cultural expressions of faith.

Works with Campus Ministry Team to manage event logistics on and off campus (facilities, setup, liturgical decor, etc.)

Coordinates g the scheduling and compensation of priests

Trains and prepares students for meaningful leadership roles in prayer and liturgy

Coordinates liturgical ministers

Mentors and trains student liturgical leaders in a variety of functions

Student Leadership Development
-
Co-Facilitates a student leadership program which seeks to develop faith leaders whose service to the school community is rooted in our CSJ mission and charism.

Actively invites students and adults to participate in Campus Ministry opportunities, and provides mentorship throughout these programs.

Coordinates a selection and formation process for student and adult retreat leaders.
-
Mentors students in writing talks for retreats and/or Gospel reflections for on campus liturgies.

Trains students to preside at Communion Services.

Social Advocacy
-
Collaborates with the Campus Ministry team and Religion Department in building a culture of service and advocacy throughout student programming
-

Communication and Collaboration
-
Collaborates with other departments, especially Religious Studies, to create a cohesive experience of faith development for students.
-
Works in alliance with Wellness Counselors with regard to student social and emotional needs.
-
Works collaboratively with the Student Life Department to ensure that all students feel safe and develop a sense of belonging in the Carondelet Community
-
Communicates with the MarCom team to assure the Carondelet community has appropriate information regarding Campus Ministry programs, and provides special interest stories, photos, etc to be used on the website and social media.

Requirements:
-
Bachelor’s degree in education, theology or related field. Preferred Master’s degree in theology or related field
-
3-5 years experience in pastoral ministry with adolescents, specifically in the areas of liturgical and retreat leadership.

Ability and willingness to facilitate overnight retreats and immersion experiences throughout the year.

Understanding of and ability to apply Catholic Social Teaching to current social issues

CA Driver’s license
-
Comfortability with driving school vans and 15 passenger vans (if necessary)

Excellent oral and written communication skills
-
Preference for a candidate with a strong understanding of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion best practice.
