Salary Range: $80,000 – $95,000, commensurate with experience

Position Summary
The Major and Planned Gifts Officer plays a vital role in advancing Covenant House Georgia’s mission by cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding relationships with current and prospective major donors. This position is responsible for developing and implementing strategies to increase giving among high-net-worth individuals and educating supporters on planned giving opportunities.
Working closely with the Chief Executive Officer, Chief Development Officer, and development team, the Major and Planned Gifts Officer will manage a robust portfolio of donors and prospects, deepen engagement, and secure transformational gifts to sustain and grow Covenant House Georgia’s impact for youth experiencing homelessness.
Key Responsibilities
Major & Planned Giving Program
- Partner with the Chief Executive Officer and Chief Development Officer to strengthen and expand Covenant House Georgia’s major and planned giving programs.
- Manage a portfolio of major and planned giving donors and prospects, leading all stages of the pipeline—identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.
- Conduct proactive prospecting, networking, and research to build a diverse and sustainable portfolio of high-capacity donors.
- Develop tailored strategies and materials to engage donors at giving levels of $10,000 and above.
- Collaborate with leadership to create and deliver persuasive proposals, donor presentations, and customized solicitation materials.
- Respond to inquiries and manage donor relationships specific to planned giving opportunities in Georgia.
- Educate donors and prospects on bequests, charitable trusts, and other planned giving vehicles in collaboration with Covenant House International’s Planned Giving team.
- Assist in planning and executing donor education events related to legacy and planned giving.
Donor Cultivation & Stewardship
- Build meaningful relationships with donors through personalized communication, visits, and ongoing engagement.
- Prepare donor briefings, correspondence, proposals, pledge documents, and reports for leadership and board use.
- Develop and implement stewardship strategies that recognize and communicate the impact of donor investments.
- Partner with the Chief Development Officer to ensure alignment of individual donor strategies with institutional fundraising efforts.
- Maintain high standards of confidentiality and professionalism in all donor interactions.
Portfolio Management & Operations
- Use Covenant House Georgia’s CRM (EveryAction) to record donor interactions, contact reports, and next steps in a timely and accurate manner.
- Analyze donor data and giving patterns to inform portfolio strategy and increase donor engagement and retention.
- Support leadership and board members with donor call lists, briefing materials, and moves management planning.
- Partner with the development operations team to ensure donor recognition and acknowledgment processes are timely and accurate.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with development, marketing, and program teams to align fundraising strategies and messaging.
- Support the execution of major fundraising events, including engaging donors and prospects in event participation.
- Represent Covenant House Georgia at community events and donor gatherings to elevate the organization’s visibility and relationships.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree or CFRE certification preferred.
- 3–5 years of experience in major gifts or planned giving fundraising.
- Proven success in securing five- and six-figure gifts from individual donors.
- Excellent communication, relationship-building, and negotiation skills.
- Strong writing ability, including experience preparing proposals and donor correspondence.
- Proficiency with CRM databases (EveryAction or similar) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Self-starter with the ability to work independently while collaborating effectively as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with planned giving strategies and tools.
- Familiarity with the Atlanta philanthropic landscape and local donor community.
- Demonstrated success working with executive leadership and volunteer fundraisers.
Work Environment & Expectations
- Hybrid work schedule available; regular in-person donor meetings and occasional evening or weekend events required.
- Must be comfortable representing Covenant House Georgia with professionalism, warmth, and authenticity across diverse audiences.
- Must be comfortable working in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment where flexibility and adaptability are valued.
