The Position

AREVON is recruiting for the position of BESS Project Engineer, Analyst an outstanding opportunity for individuals seeking an exciting, high-growth work environment in one of the most important industries of the 21st century.  


Job Description 

This critical hire will be a part of Arevon’s Development and Construction team and will report directly to the Manager, Energy Storage Engineering. The BESS Project Engineer will focus on Stand Alone Battery Energy Storage and will work to advance projects through development, engineering, and construction. The BESS Project Engineer will be responsible for completing layouts, site feasibility and risk analysis, coordinating engineering deliverables, and performing detailed analysis and interpretation of civil, structural, and electrical Prudent Industry Practices. The role will be required to collaborate with internal teams as well as external consultants to confirm all projects are optimized for performance, cost, and reliability.

The responsibilities of a Project Engineer include but are not limited to: 

· Support the engineering team through the projects’ full lifecycle, reviewing the BESS and HV designs of utility-scale energy storage projects

· Produce development deliverables including layouts, feasibility/risk analyses, and assessments of the most feasible storage technology for sites

· Stay up to date on news and advancements pertaining to the BESS industry, such as technological developments, new storage products released by suppliers, etc.

· Support the internal procurement team in the cost/benefit analysis of multiple technologies

· Assist the internal interconnection team with interconnection study and agreement deliverables

· Work to support internal teams through EPC contracting, including drafting and reviewing documents such as scopes of work, commissioning requirements, acceptance tests, performance guarantees, and other technical exhibits

· Manage close coordination with external Owners Engineer (OE) to ensure a comprehensive civil, structural, and electrical design package

· Track and manage project deadlines as they relate to design and engineering items

· Support engineer with managing EPC contractors through the engineering design, construction, and commissioning stages

· Manage coordination between EPC, OE, and Utility to confirm all RFI’s and deliverables are communicated and provided

· Accurately perform and manage the review of engineering designs and studies provided during the project lifecycle, and documenting and communicating fatal falls and risks when applicable

· Knowledge of applicable codes, standards, such as NESC, ASME, NEC, ANSI, IEEE, NERC

· Able and willing to travel to construction sites.


Experience Requirements   

· 0-5 years of hands-on experience as an engineer working with energy storage, solar, or another related industry required

· Understanding of project design and optimization tradeoffs and familiarity with the current market, equipment suppliers, contractors, typical technical specifications, and costs, preferred

· Experience and understanding of BESS project design, optimization, suppliers, specifications, and costs, including contracting approaches, preferred

· Experience creating project layouts, preferred

· Proficient or able to learn AutoCAD

· Multi-project portfolio risk due diligence, preferred

· Knowledgeable in physical substation design methods and their application, preferred

· Excellent interpersonal skills, highly motivated and results-oriented, process-oriented with strong organizational and communication skills 

· Advanced computer skills in MS Office, MS Windows, and project controls.

· Proficient or able to learn Procore  


Education Requirements 

· Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or equivalent, required 

· Master’s Degree in Engineering or equivalent, preferred
