The Position

AREVON is recruiting for the position of Counsel or Senior Counsel (depending on experience level), an outstanding opportunity for individuals seeking an exciting, high-growth work environment in one of the most important industries for the 21st century.


Job Description

AREVON is looking for a transactional attorney with extensive experience drafting and negotiating engineering, procurement, and construction agreements and equipment supply agreements; strong attention to detail; an appetite for a fast-paced environment; commercial awareness; and the ability to manage multiple assignments and deadlines. This position reports to the Associate General Counsel that sits in our Scottsdale office, and will ideally be based there (with a hybrid in-office policy), but remote candidates will also be considered.


Essential Responsibilities & Duties

• Draft, negotiate, and manage:

  • Engineering, procurement and construction agreements
  • Equipment supply and other procurement-related agreements
  • Operations and maintenance agreements
  • Master services agreements, and other services agreements in connection with the development, construction, and operation of renewable energy power plants

• Advise management concerning business transactions involving customers, contractors, suppliers, and subcontractors.

• Proactively manage both upstream and downstream risk across multiple contracts and projects.

• Assist and/or represent the company in contract negotiations with all business partners. • Advise the company concerning claims and disputes with subcontractors, suppliers, and other business partners.

• Participate in the resolution of highly complex or sensitive legal issues.

• Manage and control outside legal counsel and consultants.

• Conduct trainings for company personnel, as needed.

• Complete other responsibilities, as assigned.


Qualifications

• Juris doctor from an accredited law school.

• Active license to practice law in at least one United States jurisdiction.

• Experience drafting and negotiating engineering, procurement, and construction agreements.

• A minimum of two years of legal experience is required. Experience in renewable energy industry is a plus.

• Demonstrate sound oral and written communication skills, sound judgment, and an ability to fulfill leadership responsibilities assigned; an ownership approach to projects and tasks is critical.

• Strong understanding of the laws in areas of expertise and proficient in their interpretation and application.

• Experience managing commercial disputes.

• Possess effective analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills.

• Must be able to handle heavy workload, critical time constraints, multiple project responsibilities and continually changing priorities.

• Some travel may be required.
