Measures for Justice is a nonpartisan nonprofit organization dedicated to developing tools and services that help communities, including the institutions that serve them, reshape how the criminal justice system works. Since 2011, we have been collecting, standardizing, and publishing criminal justice data to increase transparency, accessibility, and accountability. We’re leading a movement to change the future of criminal justice.


Role Overview

As a Senior Community Engagement Manager at Measures for Justice, you will initiate, build, and maintain rich relationships with local community stakeholders and criminal justice practitioners served by our organization. You will also collaborate with numerous teams across our organization (engineering, research, project management, etc.) to ensure the successful delivery and use of our flagship data tool, Commons. Through your relationships and leadership, you will play an integral role in advancing our mission to reshape how the criminal justice system works. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Initiate, build, and maintain relationships with community groups and criminal justice practitioners

  • Facilitate conversations between external stakeholders in local communities to foster collaboration and relationship-building

  • Assist in implementing our data engagement platform, Commons

  • Encourage Commons usage post-implementation through user support and guidance

  • Facilitate conversations and workshops with community members regarding effective, data-driven community engagement strategies

  • Conduct county-level analysis to identify local justice concerns, community initiatives, government policies, and key influencers

  • Contribute to the establishment and ongoing management of brand awareness for Measures for Justice

  • Demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging by modeling inclusive behaviors and proactively managing bias

Your Experience

  • Significant experience coordinating, leading, and/or organizing community-based initiatives

  • Proven background collaborating with local government engagement/outreach partners

  • Skilled at developing written materials (e.g., email communication, meeting agendas, etc.) to foster alignment and engagement with various stakeholders

  • Strong background facilitating conversations between diverse groups to align interests and achieve a common goal, all while remaining personally neutral

  • Proven experience demonstrating cultural sensitivity and humility for the purpose of racial equity work

  • Availability for approximately 20% regional and national travel to support local communities, attend conferences, and support with org-sponsored events


Bonus Points

  • Experience in criminal justice field and/or reform

  • Background in data and/or policy analysis

  • Completed IAP2 training or certification
