Role and responsibilities

The Sr. Performance Engineer will play an immediate and integral role in Primergy’s Asset Management team’s daily goal of maximizing revenue.  The successful candidate will have experience in data analysis, reporting, and the energy industry.  Helpful tools in the toolbox would include R/Python, Excel, SQL/databases, PVsyst and any data visualization platform. 

 

Your main responsibilities would be to identify and communicate performance issues in our PV and BESS fleet, PVsyst modelling, create custom/ad-hoc data analyses for cross-functional business functions, and assist with monthly/quarterly reporting.  Our main goal is to maximize revenue for our operating sites, while assisting with sites in development.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE

  • Create PVsyst shadow models of our new and existing sites to help better understand IE assumptions and site performance
  • Build scalable analytics, processes, and reporting to enable Leadership to clearly understand PV and BESS performance, risks, and opportunities
  • Own site-level performance narratives, including root-cause attribution, budget variance and recommended actions
  • Provide clear, defensible performance conclusions used in leadership and investor discussions
  • Create and utilize outlier detection models to identify underperforming assets and work with members of Operations and Maintenance to create a gameplan for how to remediate issues
  • Utilize Asset Management software platform and programming languages (R/Python) to conduct data analysis
  • Translate contract requirements into metric calculations
  • Drive asset performance improvements by applying engineering analysis, statistical methods, and data-driven insights to identify, prioritize, and remediate performance losses
  • Create ad-hoc tools to evaluate performance deviations and quantify impacts
  • Conduct A/B testing (pre/post analysis) to ensure improvements have been made after maintenance and upgrades to site equipment 
  • Travel several times a year to various locations for team-building and site visits; < 15% of the time
  • Collaborate closely with Engineering, Operations, 3rd party vendors, Development, Finance, and Leadership

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Requires a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Atmospheric Sciences, Computer Science or Statistics
  • 3+ years of experience in Performance Engineering in the Renewable Energy industry
  • 3+ years of data analytics experience using programming languages; R, Python, Matlab, PVLib, SQL
  • 1+ years of experience with running PVsyst a plus
  • 1 + Experience with using SCADA/ Met Station data
  • Prior renewable energy experience preferred, but not required
  • Experience with BESS analytics a plus
  • Experience with interpretation of O&M, LTSA and/or PPA contracts a plus
  • Experience with GADS reporting a plus
