Walden Biosciences is a privately held, venture capital backed company with a mission to transform the treatment of kidney disease by reversing its progression and enabling and inspiring patients to resume their normal lives.  We are developing first-in-class, highly targeted therapies for individuals living with renal diseases.  Our objective is to transform the treatment of renal diseases, providing patients with treatment options where currently few exist.  You will have an opportunity to help us bring this mission to life.

As an integral member of our Cell Systems team, the Associate/Research Associate will carry out laboratory research, working collaboratively with the Head of Cell Systems and other members of the Walden Team.  This role will contribute to building out the group’s technical capabilities while concurrently undertaking experiments that further our drug discovery programs in vitro and in vivo translational models.

Responsibilities:

Develop and execute cell-based and biophysical assays in support of drug discovery programs.

Evaluate, troubleshoot, and improve assays and experimental techniques.

Design and implement thoughtful, well-controlled experiments.

Maintain clear and accurate laboratory records.

Support the larger Walden Team by helping with general lab tasks such as lab organization, inventory management, and shared consumable procurement.

Qualifications:

BS and two years’ industrial lab experience or an MS in molecular or cellular biology, or related field, or equivalent experience required.

Experience in mammalian cell culture required.

Hands-on experience with diverse experimental techniques, such as but not limited to DNA/RNA preparation, microscopy, transfections, various immunoassays such as ELISA, Western Blotting, RT- qPCR, flow cytometry.

Experience in the application and execution of cellular, biochemical, and biophysical assays, problem solving, and data analysis Must be able to analyze, report, and communicate data clearly.

Ability to rapidly learn, implement new techniques, and adapt in a dynamic environment.

Excellent attention to detail, time management, and documentation.

Motivated team player with the ability to multitask.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills (oral/written).
