As a key member of our Molecular Sciences team, the Sr. Scientist / Associate Director, Protein / Antibody Engineering is responsible for discovering and developing novel therapeutic antibodies and proteins. The position reports into Head of Molecular Sciences and Information.

Responsibilities: 
  • Experience with protein engineering to facilitate small molecule chemistry-based drug screening
  • Conduct cutting-edge research to develop novel antibody-based candidate therapeutics including developing novel scaffolds and antibody libraries
  • Working knowledge of different antibody engineering approaches, understand different capabilities of these technologies and be able to execute or contract them appropriate to project needs 
  • Measure aggregation, solubility, stability and other parameters related to the manufacturability of candidate antibody therapeutics
  • Produce purified candidate antibody therapeutics in quantities sufficient for animal studies
  • Perform flow cytometry and sorting or other screening platforms
  • Align and inspire more junior staff including technicians

Qualifications:  
  • Ph.D. in Molecular Biology, Immunology, Biochemistry, Cell Biology, or related field with a minimum of 5 years’ of antibody / protein engineering experience in a biotech/pharmaceutical environment
  • A track record of driving therapeutic antibody / protein programs from early discovery into development stage 
  • Extensive experience with phage or yeast display, flow cytometry and sorting, SPR, epitope binning and protein biochemistry
  • Strong knowledge in antibody structural modeling, sequence prediction, and strong understanding of protein structure-function relationships
  • High throughput screening, registering sequences and data management
  • Experience building a positive, team-oriented culture with strong leadership and communications skills
  • Strong passion for innovating and forward-thinking based on competent experimentation and reliable data
  • Demonstration of leadership, problem solving, decision-making, and project management skills
  • Open, highly collaborative and scientifically curious
