Job Description

The Product & Program Manager is responsible for developing new and enhanced homeowners’ products to drive business growth and profitability in targeted locations. The role also includes building and managing all aspects of several portfolios of partner P&C MGUs, MGAs, and Program Administrators.

 

The position utilizes market research data to identify, analyze, and evaluate markets, products, or services that present potential opportunities for the company. The manager develops and executes strategic plans for entry into new markets and delivers product enhancements through contract language, underwriting rules and guidelines, platform and system improvements, automation, and pricing and predictive analytics.

 

This role supports and manages insurance product performance in the market by leveraging analysis and insights from various internal and external sources to conduct root cause analysis. Solutions are researched to inform recommended actions that improve profitability, growth, and customer experience in support of annual profit and growth plans.

 

The manager monitors, supports, and adjusts actions and initiatives that impact both top- and bottom-line aspects of product performance in the market. Insights are created from intelligence on customers, competitors, and market trends to solve problems and proactively address emerging developments.

This position reports to the Chief Underwriting Officer.

 

 

Primary Accountabilities

Product & Program Management Specialization

  • Manage all aspects of several portfolios of program business including management of the relationship with the Program Administrators.
  • Advance actions and recommendations that directly support the achievement of premium volume and profitability objectives in program business and states within scope of responsibility.
  • Develop and communicate a thorough and deep understanding of all performance indicators with accountability for driving desired profit and growth results in assigned area. Develop appropriate metrics to measure success of initiatives.
  • Articulate and present analysis of data and information, identification of root causes of deviations and recommend solutions.
  • Manage operational planning and works with partners to develop recommendations for product managers that lead to achievement of profit/growth goals.
  • Lead and coordinate stakeholders to analyze demographics and market segmentation to identify growth opportunity alignment and associated product changes.
  • Make and lead implementation of recommendations that enhance guidelines/policies, systems or compliance efforts.

 

Product & Program Development Specialization

  • Assess new program opportunities with respect to product rates, rules and underwriting guidelines.
  • Leads or coordinates lean product innovation processes to test-and-validate product needs using minimum viable product and other concepts.
  • May lead projects for development of products, services and enhancements.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert in development of contract language and/or underwriting guidelines.
  • Work with product compliance and contract/forms design roles to ensure product achieves compliance with financial controls, regulations.

 

Specialized Knowledge & Skills Requirements

  • The ideal candidate will have prior homeowners product experience in the management of states with complex insurance environments or catastrophe management.
  • Demonstrated experience in driving results in one or more of the following areas: sales, product lines, claims, or other core business functions.
  • Demonstrated experience managing and leading complex projects or programs with a cross-divisional impact toward intended results.
  • Demonstrated experience analyzing and interpreting facts and data, including financial information, in a way that can lead to actionable conclusions.
  • Demonstrated experience communicating to a variety of audiences to review findings, arguments, options, risks, benefits, and other issues in a frame of reference that the audience can understand.
  • Solid knowledge and understanding of root cause analysis and processes.

Occasional travel to Boston, MA, or St. Petersburg, FL, to be expected for team events.
