Green City Force is seeking a passionate and mission driven Deputy Director of Employer Engagement to join the Career Services Team and work closely with Green City Force’s Social Enterprise. The goal of Career Services is to ensure that graduates of our award-winning AmeriCorps Service program have the exposure,  training, and experience needed for careers in the Healthy Buildings & Communities Sector. The Social Enterprise forms a critical link between the GCF AmeriCorps service and training program and the transition into full-time quality work with employer partners. 

 

The Deputy Director of Employer Engagement will focus on generating and maintaining an employment pipeline of quality positions where alumni will gain valuable experiences and opportunities for career advancement. This position will deliver high quality career development solutions across our dynamic sector, with direct responsibility for growing an employer and trainer base to sustain opportunities for GCF graduates,  while ensuring a high-quality experience  throughout all aspects of the candidate and employer relationship.

 

The position reports to the Director of Alumni Engagement & Analytics, and works as a critical member of the Careers Services team ,alongside the Director of Trainings & Sectoral Partnerships. The Deputy Director of Employer Engagement is experienced in workforce development and will utilize business, sales, and customer relationship management skills to grow Green City Force’s employer partner portfolio. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

 

New Employer Cultivation

  • Build on existing and cultivate new employer relationships to develop a sectorally diverse portfolio of opportunities for 200+ alumni annually, with success measured by criteria such as job quality, placement potential, wage level, retention and career advancement 

  • Engage potential employer partners and trainers, determine fit of partnership and identifies and develop a strategic service plan that serves both the employers’ hire and GCF’s placement needs

  • Remain current on local hiring and labor trends, including job fair participation, staff development opportunities, and training; continuously research, cultivating and prioritizing a list of potential employers and trainers that meet industry needs

Partner Management

  • Conduct reviews of existing GCF accounts on a regular basis to evaluate employer demand and usage of GCF services and determine how best to improve and/or leverage relationships to meet placement objectives.

  • Make appropriate and timely job placement referrals of participants to potential employers based on participants’ skills, work experience, and interests

  • Plan and execute employer engagement opportunities, including but not limited to regular newsletters, employer events, speaking engagements and volunteer opportunities

  • Maintain a feedback loop with employers to gather feedback on alumni employee performance; collect data on job placements and make internal referrals for alumni support as needed

Internal systemization & support

  • Share information on job opportunities with the Career Services team; train team members on the culture, expectations and requirements of each employer seeking to interview program participants to ensure strong Corps Member and alumni referrals

  • Inform service team of upcoming trends and employer timelines, ensure opportunities for training and career exposure to prepare members for placements

  • Document, consistently,  accurately, and  in real time, all participant and employer contact, activities and outcomes into departmental tracking tools.

  • Develop systems for employer engagement to be utilized by larger career services team

  • Propose and craft content for marketing materials that demonstrates potential of GCF alumni & benefits of partnering with GCF to potential employers

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum requirements

  • 5-8 years relevant work experience required; background in career assessment planning, professional development, mentoring, work readiness coaching, sector-based skills training, candidate branding and/or competitive behavioral interviewing

  • Established network/relationships with employers across NYC, with a strong preference for employers active in the healthy buildings and communities sector

  • Knowledge of New York City labor market trends and employer based tax incentives

  • Data-driven professional with proven track record of setting and exceeding targets

  • Superior communications skills, ability to engage a wide range of constituents, and ability to articulate GCF’s mission and vision to prospective partners

  • Passionate about the communities and young people we serve

  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and operate in a fast paced and constantly evolving environment that drives continuous improvement. 

  • Well versed in Google Drive, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, with the ability to embrace technology.

  • Commitment to cultural diversity and equity.

Green City Force (GCF) is in its second decade having celebrated over 20 cohorts of our award-winning AmeriCorps program. Green City Force (GCF) engages young adults from New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA) communities in service years related to the environment. In doing so, we prepare them for sustainable careers, while serving to make public housing communities more sustainable and healthier, creating the green city we want to see.


Our 600+ graduates are working in all areas of the green economy, from energy efficiency to composting, and construction to hydroponic farming.
