About the Company

We believe in the power and importance of infrastructure. Every few decades a major inflection point in the world’s infrastructure progresses humanity forward. Vanderbilt and the railroads, Edison and the electrical grid, Eisenhower and the highways, and now Airspace Link’s low altitude digital infrastructure. As a high growth software and data startup based out of Detroit, offering Hybrid and fully Remote work options, we focus on creating a place where people of all different backgrounds can thrive as engineers, data scientists, creative thinkers, and passionate innovators. Our vision is to create a world where the safe integration of drones fuels human progress, advancing social equity, the environment, and the economy.

What’s the Opportunity?

As part of our exciting expansion plans, we have a fantastic opportunity for Geospatial Analytics Engineers to join our rapidly growing data team. You would be part of the team scripting complex analytical functions and services that leverage diverse geospatial data to generate insights and support Airspace Link’s data and software products.

At Airspace Link, we work with huge amounts of diverse data, so with that in mind, we are looking for someone who is more 'technical' than an analyst, with both Geo and Non-Geo data experience. We use the Esri tech stack, which is used throughout the business to utilize the data insights. It's important for us that you have significant experience with data modelling that will result in a smoother process throughout Airspace Link when making data-based decisions.

We understand that working with data such as this can be hard work and sometimes be messy, but it's also exceptionally fun, and we are excited to find the right person to take on the challenge.

What You’ll Do and the Impact You’ll Make

Your work matters. Utilizing cutting edge data, you will provide Airspace Link with insights that will be used to build data services and API products.  Here are a few examples of what your peers have worked on recently:
  • Building a comprehensive data repository that enables governments and commercial clients to have the infrastructure to safely scale drones into the national airspace
  • Sourcing FAA data, Department of Homeland Security data, telemetry data, weather data, government advisories data, to create a single interface for drone operators, governments, and industry
  • Utilize developer and server-based tools to author and/or publish new or derived data analytics and functions that can be used for sales engagements, one-off projects, or long-term integration into our product line

We Expect You to Have

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Geography, Data Analytics, Computer Science, or related field OR equivalent level of experience
  • 3+ years of experience building data-focused applications
  • Strong working knowledge of Python (ArcPy / GeoPandas / Jupyter Notebook)
  • Exposure to software design patterns and unit testing
  • Esri’s ArcGIS suite experience
  • Understanding of API concepts
  • Exposure to Azure functions, database queries, serverless or microservice architectures
  • Industry experience in GIS, Geography, Aeronautical, Transportation, Bioscience, Planning, Defense, or related field
  • Authorization to work in the United States (at this time we are unable to offer sponsorships)
