As a Tech Animator/Rigger, your main responsibility will be to design, create, test, and maintain character rigs to meet the technical requirements of real-time performance capture and crowd simulations.  Collaborate with the team to deliver the artistic vision communicated by the Art Director, and the technical art vision communicated by the Technical Art Director.


Responsibilities

•  Design, create, test, and maintain character rigs/setups to meet technical and artistic needs   

•  Develop and maintain character motion and deformation systems 

•  Develop new techniques and processes to solve character production and optimization challenges

•  Create, setup and maintain Animation Blueprints in UE4

•  Collaborate with Technical Art Director to ensure technical solutions are well planned, structured, executed on, and documented

•  Support Character Artists with production tools

•  Collaborate with animators to improve rig controls


Qualifications

•  7+ years of production experience 

•  5+ Rigging experience in Maya (real-time preferred)   

•  Strong understanding of real-time development processes and limitations

•  In-depth knowledge of Maya Rigging, Skeletal, and Animation systems

•  Expertise in Unreal Engine character and animation systems

•  Strong understanding of both Figure and Facial Anatomy 

•  Python /MEL

•  Mocap experience

•  Passion for technical problem solving

•  Interest in future technologies

•  No visa will be issued for this role

•  Candidate must live within a reasonable distance from the L.A. office

•  Given the current pandemic, individuals will be working from home.  Afterwards, the number of remote days will be decided upon.
