Senior Editorial Researcher: Media and Marketing Trends

Digiday Media is seeking an enterprising, thorough, and analytical senior researcher to conduct and manage both editorial and client research projects. The role will focus on research for our premium subscribers. 

This is an opportunity to grow and own a new area within Digiday Media that will help all teams, both business and editorial, answer some of our industries’ most pressing questions through surveys, focus groups, interviews, and other forms of primary and secondary research and analysis. 


How you’ll spend your time:

  • Consulting with internal stakeholders on survey design in addition to general research approach for each project. 
  • In-depth analysis of survey, focus group, and interview results to provide a thorough briefing on themes and findings to each project’s stakeholder. 
  • Preparing in-depth outlines of findings and collaborating with the research editor on report drafts.
  • Managing the research calendar and ensuring timely fulfillment of all surveys.
  • Conducting (or helping to moderate) focus groups and interviews to support research needs. 
  • Secondary research and analysis to help produce case studies, corporate report analysis, SWOT and quadrant analysis, and other content formats. 


What we’re looking for: 

  • Deep experience conducting industry-focused B2B survey research. 
  • Professional proficiency with SurveyMonkey or other survey platforms is preferred. 
  • Solid writing and the ability to use research results to tell a story. 
  • Familiarity with basic chart design for research results. 
  • Ability to confidently conduct interviews and moderate focus groups.
  • Experience and professional understanding of the following industries: publishing/media and marketing/advertising (including advertising and marketing technology).
  • Additional experience and professional understanding of the following industries is a plus: retail, CPG, beauty and fashion.
  • A social science or research-oriented degree is preferred. 
  • 2+ years of research or equivalent experience
