The Canvas Technician is responsible for identifying and estimating work for customer's boats. Performing scheduled work as assigned and practicing a professional work ethic along with a positive attitude, good appearance, punctuality and high standards for quality performance and customer care.

 

Essential Functions/Responsibilities:  

  • Marine canvas repair and creating custom covers and enclosures.
  • Coordinate and be proactive in planning material needs for work performed.
  • Ensure time is properly documented and charged against appropriate boat and work order.
  • Make concerted efforts to keep up to date with new products
  • Ensure compliance with safety, regulatory and sanitation policies
  • Performs other duties as assigned or required.

 

Required Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • 5 years’ experience preferred
  • Able to work both independently and as part of a team to achieve goals and targets
  • Reliable with good time management skills and the ability to organize and prioritize work
  • Adaptable to working in a fast-paced environment
  • Must enjoy working outdoors

 

 

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Must be able to swim
  • Ability to exercise good judgment in evaluation situations and making decisions.
  • General seamanship knowledge, boating right of ways rules, basic navigation, and inshore and offshore mooring techniques.
  • Work tasks may be performed both indoors and outdoors.

  • Must be able to lift and move up to 50 lbs.
  • Frequent walking, reaching, bending, turning, and stooping,
  • Outside work for extended periods of time in various weather conditions.
  • Normal vision and hearing ranges required.
  • Must be comfortable using all dock equipment and materials (gas pump, boats, ropes, anchors, among others).

 

 

Work Environment

  • Outside work for extended periods of time in various weather conditions.
  • Work tasks may be performed both indoors and outdoors.
  • Working in wet and slippery conditions. Frequently working in an outdoor, hot, and damp environment.
