Evening Operations Manager

THE OPPORTUNITY 

As a key operations leader, the Evening Operations Manager will oversee the coordination of our HQ operations at Chelsea Market and support the management of our community satellite locations. This role requires strong project management skills to ensure the seamless execution of programs, events, and initiatives. Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer,  the Evening Operations Manager will be responsible for the day-to-day operational needs of the organization, working cross-functionally to support programming, events, and team initiatives. The regular hours for this position are 1:00 pm to 9:00 pm, Monday through Friday, on-site, with flexibility required as there may be occasions when work hours shift to 9:00 am to 5:00 pm or extend until 10:00 pm. GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Project Management:

    • Lead and manage cross-functional projects, ensuring alignment between Operations, Programs, and other departments.

    • Develop and track project timelines, ensuring that deadlines are met, and resources are allocated effectively.

    • Anticipate and resolve operational challenges proactively, while collaborating with teams to adjust project plans as needed.

    • Utilize project management tools to document progress, milestones, and deliverables, ensuring clear communication across stakeholders.

  • Operational Support:

    • Partner with Programs and Operations teams to plan, coordinate, and prepare for upcoming programming and events at Chelsea Market and across community satellite locations.

    • Collaborate with the Senior Operations Manager and Chief Operating Officer to implement process improvements that enhance operational efficiency.

    • Support emergency planning and procedures, including developing and coordinating regular staff training on safety protocols.

  • Vendor and Partner Management:

    • Manage relationships with key operational vendors and service providers.

    • Ensure timely communication and coordination with external partners to support event logistics and programming needs.

    • Review and negotiate vendor contracts, ensuring services align with organizational needs and budgets.

    • Track and manage facility equipment and repair and maintenance schedules

  • Facility Events: 

    • Support internal events and rentals of our facility and collaborate with the Senior Operations Manager for general event coordination.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum of 3 years experience in operations and people management, including a demonstrated ability to establish and maintain productive relationships with vendors and partners that serve an organization. 

  • Excellent time management skills and the ability to deliver work on assigned schedules. 

  • Demonstrated ability to manage cross-functional teams and large-scale projects effectively.

  • Strong organizational and time-management skills with an eye for detail.

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills across diverse teams.

  • Proficiency in project management software and tools, with strong computer skills (MS Office, Slack).

  • Experience working in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.

  • Keen eye for preventing and/or attending to staff safety issues. 

  • Demonstrated excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to communicate and work effectively with all levels.

  • Demonstrated ability to act decisively and independently to resolve issues. 

  • Strong computer skills including the ability to learn new software as necessary. Ability to fully utilize email, electronic calendars, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and Slack.

LOCATION AND HOURS 

This position is an in-person position, requiring attendance at our facility in Chelsea Market 5 days a week. Work hours will be approximately 1:00 pm to 10:00 pm, Monday through Friday. We follow New York City and State guidelines on COVID-19 vaccination and masking. 

COMPENSATION

This is a full-time position. The salary range is $75,000- 80,000 and is commensurate with experience. Hot Bread Kitchen’s comprehensive benefits package includes health/vision/dental insurance (available from day one!), 401K contributions, paid office closure (including holidays, and staff appreciation days) a one-week holiday break at the end of the year, flexible vacation time, generous sick and paid family leave, and paid sabbatical program (after 5 years).
