We offer small business development programs, culinary skills training, and job placement, bolstered by individualized, wraparound supportive services. Our small business program, HBK Incubates, supports entrepreneurs as they transform their food businesses into sustainable income sources. Culinary Fundamentals, our award-winning culinary training program, provides access to high-quality jobs for those starting their careers in the food industry. Our upskilling programs enable incumbent workers to gain further skills, leading to higher wages and career advancement. We work diligently alongside our network of over 200 food employer partners and more than 250 nonprofit and government partners to ensure our graduates are set up for success both at home and in their careers.
THE OPPORTUNITY
Hot Bread Kitchen seeks a Director of Data and Technology who will lead the strategic direction and implementation of data management, technology, and digital initiatives to support the organization’s mission and goals. A member of the organization's Leadership Team, this role involves overseeing data collection, storage, analysis, and utilization; managing technology infrastructure; ensuring effective system integration; and strategically planning future technology initiatives, including the utilization of artificial intelligence, to enhance the organization’s operations and impact. The Director of Impact and Innovation will lead performance management and continuous improvement, design and implement strategic evaluation plans for programs, and expand technological capabilities.
The ideal candidate is an excellent people and project manager, a data-driven and strategic thinker, a skilled communicator, and someone who thrives on collaborating with internal and external partners. The Director will report to the Chief Program Officer and work collaboratively. They will also manage one Salesforce Administrator and several paid and pro bono consultants.
SUPERVISORY AND LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES

Manage and support the Salesforce Administrator, providing guidance, supervision, and oversight to ensure adequate system maintenance and improvement.

Be an active member of the Leadership Team, supporting strategic decision-making for the organization.

Lead performance management meetings with program leadership to drive continuous improvement and accountability.

Oversee evaluation projects, including coordinating with program staff and external evaluators to ensure quality and timely data collection and reporting.

Partner with internal teams (Program, Development, Brand) to support data needs, align on goals, and ensure accurate reporting and communication.

Design and implement data systems and tools, guiding teams on using these systems effectively for program operations and performance tracking.

Facilitate the annual KPI and performance target-setting process with the leadership team.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Performance Management
-
Building on existing tools, work closely with the Chief Program Officer and the leadership team to establish benchmarks and performance targets that measure program success and effectiveness; create dashboards to communicate and monitor KPIs.

Facilitate annual KPI and target-setting process.

Regularly assess and refine metrics to ensure relevance and accuracy, utilizing data-driven insights to guide decision-making. Maintain HBK’s data dictionary to ensure consistency in reporting

Regularly disseminate internal performance management and data reports with accurate and up-to-date information.

Partner with the Development team, ensuring that we are accurately reporting on program performance against goals

Partner with the Brand team and provide quantitative and qualitative data to support external communications.

Program Evaluation & Continuous Improvement

Lead performance management meetings with the program leadership team to ensure continuous program improvement.

Provide data-driven recommendations for strategic improvements based on trends and performance indicators.

Manage discrete evaluation projects, working closely with the program staff and external parties to ensure the evaluations provide quality, helpful, and timely information.

Technology Infrastructure

Partner with the Salesforce Administrator to ensure that the system is up to date and supports program operations and performance management processes.

Design and oversee future-state data infrastructure for practical program evaluation and technological innovation.

Work closely with internal and external partners to explore and implement new technologies (e.g., AI) to improve program operations.

Design and implement tooling to increase automation of programmatic workflows and reduce manual work.

QUALIFICATIONS
-
At least 4 years of experience in data analysis and reporting to support programmatic performance management and evaluation processes in a human services non-profit organization.

Superb ability to visually represent data clearly and concisely.

Strong understanding of data infrastructure and system requirements; familiarity with Salesforce is required.

Demonstrated ability to manage and report on all program-level activities.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.
-
Strong project management skills with great attention to detail.

Strong interpersonal skills and ability to facilitate effective data management meetings.
-
Ability to work independently and as part of a team, manage multiple projects, set goals, and establish priorities.

Experience as a successful people manager is preferred.

LOCATION
This position requires working regularly in person 2-3 days a week at our facility at Chelsea Market and, on occasion, at various program locations. It also requires flexibility, including occasional availability during evening hours.
COMPENSATION
This is a full-time position. The salary range is $95,000 to $110,000, commensurate with experience. Hot Bread Kitchen's comprehensive benefits package includes health/vision/dental insurance (eligible from day one), 401K contributions, paid office closure days (including holidays and staff appreciation days, and a one-week holiday break at the end of the year), flexible and generous vacation and sick time, paid parental leave, and a sabbatical program (after 5 years of service).
