Hot Bread Kitchen’s mission is to create economic opportunity for women and gender-expansive people, immigrants, and people of color through culinary skills training, high-quality job placement, food entrepreneurship programs, and an ecosystem of support, utilizing New York City’s vibrant food industry as a catalyst for change. THE OPPORTUNITY
Hot Bread Kitchen seeks a full-time, mission-driven Development Operations Associate to support the organization in raising $8M+ annually. You will be part of a high-performing, seven-person Development team, led by our Chief Strategy & Advancement Officer. Qualified applicants will be data-driven, analytical, curious, and detail-oriented problem solvers. This role will report to the Director of Institutions and Development Strategy.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Development Operations (40%)

Lead gift processing for the entire Development team and own all fundraising data.

Generate data analytics for Development leadership to guide fundraising strategy.

Collaborate with Development and Brand Teams to implement donor communications.

Manage Development’s Google Drive with an eye toward efficient, easy-to-use organization.

Support the Development Team to implement new tech uses/applications.
Salesforce Maintenance and Optimization (40%)

Serve as the Development Team’s lead expert on Salesforce databases.

Continuously train and learn Salesforce best practices that can be applied to optimize Hot Bread Kitchen’s Development database.

Manage the integration between Salesforce and other applications, particularly Mailchimp.

With the Director of Institutions and Development Strategy, implement new solutions to optimize the Development team’s use of Salesforce.

Inspire and implement a culture of data on the Development team, documenting processes and onboarding new team members to Salesforce.
Development Support across team (20%)

Manage Development inbox and calendars, including leadership scheduling.

Support donor events, like site visits and cultivation events.

As needed, support fundraising efforts as they arise. Flexibility and willingness to learn new functions will be key to the success of this role. Other efforts may include:

Drafting emails and appeals for development leadership.

Completing prospect and donor research, including backgrounders and lookbooks.

Creating meeting briefs and talking points for internal and external meetings.

Executing fundraising event logistics and data.

QUALIFICATIONS

Passion and a commitment to Hot Bread Kitchen’s mission and core programs.

Interest in data, tech, and analytics. Interest in growing in Salesforce skills is a must.

1 to 2 years of project management, operations, administrative, development, and/or non-profit experience.

Experience in Salesforce (or other fundraising CRMs) a plus.

Systems-oriented, analytical thinker.

Strong attention to detail.

Collaborative and flexible.

Bachelor’s Degree required.

LOCATION
This is a hybrid position, with flexibility to work virtually. In-person attendance is required when departmental needs arise (weekly). Our facility is located in Chelsea Market, 75 Ninth Avenue, in Manhattan.
COMPENSATION
This is a full-time position with a salary range between $58,000 - 62,400. Hot Bread Kitchen's comprehensive benefits package includes health/vision/dental insurance (eligible from day one), 401K contributions, paid office closure days (including holidays, and staff appreciation days, and a one week holiday break at the end of the year), flexible and generous vacation and sick time, paid parental leave, and a sabbatical program (after 5 years of service).
