Starburst is looking for a Site Reliability Engineer to join our team. Our team features very strong software engineering talent, with years of core database engine and distributed systems development experience. As an SRE you’ll be keeping the lights on for our SaaS/PaaS offering, making Starburst Presto available to all internal and external customers to perform data analytics in the cloud.


Responsibilities

  • Design and develop infrastructure for automated monitoring, reporting, alerting and maintaining Starburst Presto SaaS/PaaS offering operational, up and running.

  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, report incidents and deficiencies of our SaaS/PaaS environments and collaborate with other parts of the Starburst team to resolve them.

  • Collaborate on the development of our Starburst Presto on Kubernetes solution to help it scale-up and stay operational.

  • Contribute to the core pieces of our AWS, Azure, and GCP infrastructure and customer solutions.

  • Contribute to the development and enhancement of our deployment pipelines for the Starburst Presto SaaS/PaaS offering. 

  • Write tests and contribute to ongoing automation infrastructure development.

  • Collaborate with teams globally across multiple time zones and operate in an Agile development environment.

  • Be part of the support rotations for 24/7 incident escalations.


Requirements

  • 3+ years experience as a DevOps, SRE or Software Engineer

  • Experience programming in one of Java, Go or Python

  • Experience with AWS, Azure, and/or Google Cloud Platform

  • Knowledge of distributed systems design, implementation and testing


Pluses

  • Experience working on SaaS products or with Service Oriented Architectures

  • Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, Go, Hadoop, Spark, HashiCorp tools

  • Experience with BigData processing tools / analytical engines

  • Knowledge of the JVM ecosystem (running, debugging)
