As a technical writer at Starburst, you create high quality technical content for our user documentation, reference guides, tutorials, how-to videos, and training. You assist with creation of blog posts, and collaborate with product marketing, support, and engineering for technical content and verification.


Starburst is seeking an experienced technical writer to help revamp our existing product documentation, create new content, and keep up with the rapid product innovation and changes.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with product management, UX, and engineering to create technical documentation for Starburst Enterprise Presto and related products.

  • Address content needs for different personas, such as administrators, software engineers, and end users.

  • Ensure documentation is up to date, correct, and complete.

  • Define, follow, and promote documentation style guidelines within the company.

  • Encourage collaboration and contributions of technical content within the company.

  • Collaborate with customer-facing teams for feedback on documentation and best practices.

  • Work with colleagues globally across multiple time zones.

  • Operate in an agile development environment.

Requirements

  • Enthusiasm to explore and learn about new technologies and tools

  • 5+ years of technical writing experience using markup languages

  • Excellent verbal and written communication

  • Knowledge and experience with SQL

  • Experience with Git and other software development tools

  • Location: Anywhere in North America

Preferred Experience

  • Practical software engineering experience

  • Knowledge in data warehousing, data lakes, and Hadoop

  • Knowledge of Presto and adjacent open source technologies, such as Apache Spark

  • Experience with documentation as code and using tools such as Sphinx

  • Experience with web technologies, including HTML and CSS

  • Experience with open source software and processes
