About BCG Corp
Bernardo Consulting Group (BCG) is an independent physical security consulting firm headquartered near Dallas, TX. We design access control, video surveillance, intrusion detection, and perimeter security systems for hyperscale data centers and critical-infrastructure clients. Our work protects some of the most demanding facilities in the country, and our reputation rests on getting the details right — from design through construction.
We are a lean, founder-led firm in an active growth phase, and we take the long view: we invest in our people, build durable systems and processes, and give every team member real ownership of their work. This role launches a new field-operations function at BCG — a chance to help shape how we extend our design practice onto the construction site. Joining now means stepping into a role where your contributions are visible, your judgment is trusted, and your career can grow alongside the company.
About the Role
The Physical Security Construction Administrator is the field extension of BCG's security design practice. This role performs onsite inspections at data center and critical-facility construction sites to verify that installed physical security systems are built in conformance with BCG's approved security design documents — drawings, specifications, device schedules, and sequences of operation.
Working in close coordination with BCG's design leads, the client physical security team, the prime A/E firm, the general contractor, and security integrators, the Physical Security Construction Administrator validates access control, video surveillance, intrusion detection, and perimeter security installations per the construction drawings issued. The role identifies and documents deviations and deficiencies, witnesses functional and acceptance testing, and reports field findings back to the design team. It exists to protect design intent through the construction phase and to confirm that BCG's deliverables are realized as designed.
What You'll Do
- Conduct scheduled and milestone site inspections of physical security system installations, comparing as-built conditions against BCG design documents.
- Verify installed access control, video surveillance, intrusion detection, and perimeter security systems for conformance — device placement, mounting heights, camera fields of view, conduit and cable pathways, rough-in, and terminations.
- Document non-conformances, deviations, and deficiencies; produce field observation reports, punch lists, and deficiency logs with supporting photo documentation.
- Review and respond to field RFIs, submittals, and shop drawings in coordination with BCG design leads.
- Witness functional and acceptance testing and security-systems commissioning; verify performance against the sequence of operations and design intent.
- Coordinate onsite with prime A/E firms, general contractors, and security integrators / installers to communicate design requirements and resolve field conditions.
- Track issue resolution through closeout and verify corrective work against the original observation.
- Escalate design conflicts and unresolved field conditions to BCG design leads with clear, documented recommendations.
- Attends Owner, Architectural, and Contractor meetings.
- Maintain inspection records consistent with BCG QA/QC standards and project documentation requirements.
What You Bring
- 7+ years of experience in physical security systems installation, service, field inspection, construction administration, or commissioning.
- Demonstrated ability to read and interpret construction documents, security design drawings, and technical specifications.
- Working knowledge of electronic access control, video surveillance / VMS, intrusion detection, and perimeter security systems.
- Hands-on field experience installing, servicing, or inspecting electronic security systems on active construction sites.
- Strong technical documentation skills — field reports, punch lists, and deficiency tracking.
- Familiarity with low-voltage / security infrastructure and applicable codes and standards.
- Excellent communication and coordination skills, including representing a security scope in construction and progress meetings with clients, general contractors, and subcontractors.
- Valid driver's license and the ability to meet the ~75% travel requirement, including multi-day site visits to locations that may be remote.
- U.S. citizenship and eligibility for U.S. government security clearance.
Nice to Have
- Direct field experience on hyperscaler data center projects or comparable critical-facility environments (e.g., healthcare, tech).
- Experience gained with or for a national security integrator — access control and VMS installation, service, and project delivery.
- Demonstrated leadership of field technicians or installation crews, including mentoring and training.
- Proficiency with Procore, Bluebeam Revu, and construction document / markup workflows.
- Background in security system design or as-built documentation.
- Design-review capability — ability to review and redline BCG security design drawings, flag design gaps or field conflicts, and feed design-quality observations back to the design team.
- ASIS Physical Security Professional (PSP) certification.
- Manufacturer / platform certifications in access control, intrusion detection, and video surveillance (e.g., Lenel/OnGuard, S2, AMAG, Software House C·CURE, Genetec) or video management (e.g., Genetec, Milestone, Avigilon).
- Military or veteran experience — transferable leadership, operational discipline, and security-operations backgrounds align well with this role and with our clearance-eligibility requirements.
Travel & Site Requirements
- Regular travel to project sites, including multi-day site visits (approximately 75%); data center sites may be in remote locations.
- Ability to access active construction environments: walking job sites, climbing ladders, working in elevated areas, navigating uneven terrain, and wearing required PPE.
- Comfort working amid construction noise, dust, and variable site conditions.
Work Setup
- Remote, Texas-based role with core-hours overlap with U.S. Central Time.
- Texas-based is required. Candidates may live anywhere in Texas within convenient reach of a major airport — no relocation to the DFW area is required.
- Relocation assistance to Texas is available for the right candidate.
- Any major Texas metro with strong air connections is a great fit — for example, Austin, Dallas–Fort Worth, Houston, or San Antonio. Reliable access to a major airport matters more than proximity to any single city, given the travel in this role.
- BCG provides all equipment, shipped to your home.
- Site travel is a core part of this role (see Travel & Site Requirements); travel is fully supported by BCG.
Compensation & Benefits
- Base salary — $90,000 – $130,000 annually, commensurate with experience.
- Health benefits — Medical, dental, vision, life, and AD&D.
- Retirement — Company-contributed 401(k).
- Profit sharing — BCG operates under an Employee Ownership & Profit Sharing principle. Specific eligibility and timing to be confirmed during the offer process.
- Time off — Paid time off, paid holidays, and sick leave per the BCG employee handbook.
- Equipment — Company-provided laptop and standard peripherals; certification reimbursement available with approval.
