Annual Salary: $100,000 - $120,000

 

The Quad Preparatory School is seeking an accomplished and approachable Director of People and Culture to lead the people operation at its two campuses. As a member of school leadership, this role will set and execute the school’s human resources strategy including talent acquisition, succession planning, organizational development, employee relations, compensation, benefits, leave administration, investigations, and employee engagement, as well as diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging activities. Additionally, this position oversees the payroll function, employment, and benefit compliance. 

 

This is an excellent opportunity for a seasoned HR professional who has the proven ability to think strategically but also loves the day-to-day HR responsibilities and personal employee interactions. This key role goes beyond the traditional HR role of simply administering the operation; we are looking for a relationship-builder who is a driven, innovative, and service-infused leader.

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Responsible for all aspects of Human Resources including recruiting, compensation, benefits, reporting and analytics, talent management, employee relations, investigations, diversity and affirmative action, compliance, development and retention.

  • Ensure company vision, mission, and values are communicated and understood at all levels, providing clarity for the behaviors expected of all employees to realize an engaging, high-performing, and accountable culture.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with divisional leaders, supervisors, and employees.

  • Partner with divisional leaders and supervisors to develop, assess, and improve our employee performance documents and our career pathway descriptions and rubrics.

  • Establish credibility as an effective developer of solutions to human resource challenges and opportunities.

  • Knowledge of leave of absence regulations, including FMLA, NY State Disability, and Paid Family Leave. Experience administering leave requests.Experience processing payroll or working with a PEO service to administer payroll.

  • Identify and communicate employee issues that impact the company’s ability to meet business objectives.  Provide feedback to leadership and identify business solutions from a HR perspective.

  • Partner with leadership to analyze and prioritize business challenges faced by the organization.

  • Direct, coach, and develop an effective and respected HR team.  

  • Develop staffing strategies, implementation, and onboarding plans to recruit and select talent within and outside the organization for key positions.

  • Partner with other staff and leadership to increase diversity in applicant pool and ultimately, staff.

  • Facilitate collaborative problem-solving solutions to resolve human resource issues through effective communication with all levels of employees. 

  • Display genuine interest and respect for people and their concerns.

  • Submit demographic data to various data collecting agencies, such as DASL, BEDS, etc.
     

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS (EDUCATION & PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE)

 

Bachelor’s degree from a four-year university or college.

  •  Master’s degree preferred.

  • Certification: SPHR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP preferred.

  • Experience managing people and culture in organizations with 200 or more employees.

  • 10+ years demonstrated history of successfully directing/managing Human Resources and human resource staff.

  • Substantial leave administration experience.

  • Collaborative team player with a sense of urgency and strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communications skills, including proficiency in developing and delivering presentations.

  • Proven track record of relationship building with both internal and external customers.

  • Must have the ability to utilize standard software applications and be proficient in Google Suite (Drive, Docs, and Sheets), Word, PowerPoint, and Excel and have ability and experience in utilizing an HRIS system. 

  • Experience in interviewing, hiring, training employees; planning, assigning, directing work; coaching, appraising performance; rewarding, disciplining employees; and resolving problems.

  • Experience running internal investigations.

  • Experience overseeing the creation and implementation of diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging initiatives as they relate to people and culture.

  • Genuine interest in supporting twice exceptional education and working in a school environment.
