The Quad Preparatory School is seeking two one-year, full-time interns in Psychology. We are hiring for both the Lower School (grades K-5) and Upper School (grades 6-12). Please specify to which position you are applying. Start date is August 21, 2020, and ending date is June 26, 2021. The Interns will join a team of clinicians, teachers, and support staff. The internship offers a stipend. Job duties are as follows:
Provide individual and group counseling to students at the School. The intern provides individual counseling to students, co-leads social cognition and academic seminar groups, and provides psychosocial guidance in classrooms
Provide emergency risk assessment
Lead sub-specialty area/project of Clinical Team, to be determined by supervisor. Examples include Teacher Child Interaction Therapy implementation, research/data collection, psychosocial curriculum implementation
Before start of school year, identify goals for each student to begin tracking immediately upon commencement of school year. Develop Daily Report Card for each student to allow for tracking of goals.
Revise individual student goals as needed.
Supervise undergraduate or pre-graduate level psychosocial interns, psychosocial teachers, and/or paraprofessionals
Evaluate performance of pre-graduate level psychosocial interns
Oversee data tracking of students’ goals through Daily Report Cards.
Keep progress notes of sessions with students and contact with parents/outside providers in Counseling Contact Log
Schedule monthly collaborative calls with each student’s outside providers (student’s therapist and/or psychiatrist) and student’s parents (all parties on same call).
Coordinate with students’ outside providers outside of monthly calls as needed.
Collaborate with students’ parents outside of monthly calls as needed.
Conduct select monthly evening Parent Nights at the school
Participate in daily meetings with faculty and staff to cover any changes needed for the following day
Advise and coach teachers and staff in regards to each child's individual therapeutic needs, the psychosocial curriculum and psychosocial clinical best practices
Attend all Professionals’ Breakfasts at the School, and actively promote them by reaching out to network
Attend all evening Open Houses at the School
Participate and attend other meetings and perform other tasks as directed by Head of School and/or Director
Actively promote and conduct outreach on behalf of the school
Model the mission and philosophy of the School.
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and listen. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and stooping all day. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move items under 20 pounds. During fire drills, the employee, unless physically unable, will need to use the stairs to go to ground level. Typing is required for composing emails and writing reports. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:
This is an internship with stipend in an educational facility which is open eight hours a day. Occasional evening or weekend hours may be required. In general, though, hours are Monday-Friday 8 A.M.-4 P.M.
