The mission of the Hector and Gloria López Foundation (HGLF) is to provide post-secondary educational opportunities for Latino students in Texas, specifically students from El Paso, Austin, San Antonio, South Texas, and the Rio Grande Valley. We invest in scholarships and support for students who are Latino, will be the first in their family to graduate from college or university and are financially under-resourced in their ability to pay for higher education. Overview of the López Foundation Philanthropy Team


The Philanthropy Team makes grants directly to colleges and universities (or their supporting organizations) and nonprofits that are intentional and strategic in how they support Latino first-generation students on their academic path and provide guidance toward economic opportunity.  Our college and university partners are four-year, both public and private, and are located in the five HGLF priority regions. Funding primarily supports undergraduate scholarships and student success services for a cohort of López Scholars, bearing the name of the founders, as well as strategic partnerships with non-profit organizations that support the HGLF mission. 


The Database Manager will be an integral part of the philanthropy team, ensuring that program data, student data, and philanthropic data are coordinated and streamlined to support strategic decision-making that helps us reach our long-term goal of more Latino first-gen students in Texas graduate with a Bachelor’s degree, on time, without debt on a path toward economic mobility. 


This individual contributor position will report directly to the Foundation’s Senior Research and Evaluation Officer and will work closely with other members of the Philanthropy and Foundation team.
 




  • Responsible for maintaining and improving the Foundation’s CRM system (Salesforce) and supporting integrations with related systems (e.g. GivingData, Mighty, Qualtrics, Tableau). 




  • Understand and anticipate user needs and configure system modules to enable users to easily access and update Scholar information and history. Support the team and ensure users can best leverage all tools to work efficiently and effectively. 




  • Set up reporting formats and run regular and special reports. Capture, retrieve, calculate and report data or manage lists. Produce regular reporting to Foundation officers.




  • Participate in ensuring integrity and security of CRM data. Maintain security and protection controls, including data and usage audits. Standardize and continually enrich the information available to the Foundation about its Scholars, ensuring correct entry in the database and supporting regular auditing to ensure data integrity.  




  • Monitor data quality, data migrations and data integrations. Routinely maintain CRM systems.




  • Train and provide technical support to end users (new and continuing users).  




  • Troubleshoot, diagnose and resolve technical problems with the CRM system. Help identify and address operational challenges that relate to the CRM system.  




  • Contract with and manage CRM software vendors. 




  • Support administrative functions of databases, including preparation and processing of documents drawn from CRM systems (GivingData and Salesforce). 




  • Files and distributes applicable documents; maintains contract databases.




 


Required Skills/Abilities:  




  • Excellent organizational, problem solving and coordination skills, with demonstrated ability to manage a diverse and demanding workload.




  • A blend of technical problem solving, strong customer service aptitude, excellent organization and project management skills, and ability to manage database details.




  • Ability to work collaboratively.




  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English. 




  • Comfort with technology and its use to develop efficiencies and with data, analyze complex problems to find innovative solutions.




  • Experience with customer relationship management (CRM) platforms, proficiency in Google Suite (Gmail, Docs, Sheets, Slides, etc.), Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Powerpoint) and the ability to learn new or updated software.




  • Interest, skill and ability to obtain Salesforce administrator certification within 6 months.




 


Preferred Skills/Abilities:  




  • Prior experience with Salesforce, GivingData, Mighty, Qualtrics and/or Tableau. 




  • Salesforce administration certification.




  • Prior experience working in the field of higher education.




  • Oral and written communication skills in Spanish. 




  • Experience with quantitative/statistical research methods. 




  • Experience interacting on online networking tools and the ability to learn new platforms.




 


Education and Experience:




  • Bachelor’s degree or above in a related field.  




  • 5 or more years of related experience (may include equivalent advanced degree years). 




Additional Information 


The position is full-time and requires that the person be based in Austin, Texas.  The Foundation offices are located in downtown Austin, Texas. The Foundation maintains a hybrid work schedule with staff in the office three days a week. The role requires up to 20% travel primarily within Texas to HGLF partner universities and colleges. The salary for this position ranges from $75,000-$90,000, with exact salary depending on experience.
