Paid Internship: SMFM Reproductive Health Project

Description: SMFM seeks a self-starter to assist with legislative tracking, advocacy, administrative work, and meeting
preparations for the Reproductive Health Project. Specifically, the Intern will assist the Program Manager, Reproductive
Health Project with tracking legislation, gathering news on reproductive health issues, preparation for meetings and
conferences, administration work, and other tasks as needed.

This is a wonderful opportunity for someone who is
focused and interested in reproductive health care rights and justice, including abortion and contraceptive care within a
non-profit organization.


• Maintains legislative tracking in the FiscalNote database, including legislative monitoring and assisting with
development of written materials related to the Project’s advocacy priorities.

• Assists with scheduling, attending briefings as needed, webinars, and coalition meetings for learning purposes
when appropriate.

• Meeting preparation, note taking, and weekly media/news monitoring.

• Attends the Reproductive Health Project’s Advisory Group meetings and works directly with members as needed
on projects related to the Project.

• Adheres to the confidentiality

• Must be working toward a college degree, preferably in a related field (e.g., political science, government relations,
international affairs, health policy).
• Must have knowledge and basic understanding of the federal and state legislative processes.
• Must possess excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Must possess the ability to creatively approach problem solving, be flexible, work well under pressure, multi-task
and have excellent interpersonal skills.
• Must have proficiency with word processing, Excel, and databases.
• Must be detail-oriented and organized, with an ability to prioritize time-sensitive assignments.
• Interest in nonprofit and reproductive health is desirable.


Internship is 2-3 days per week with flexible hours. This position will be covered by a stipend.  Can be remote.
