of International Finance Corporation (IFC), a member of the World Bank Group,
and is headquartered in Washington,
DC.
  The firm is majority women-owned and
a registered investment advisor with the United States SEC.

We are seeking an ESG Engagement
Manager to join our team.
  This position
will drive engagement activities for Cartica’s portfolio of 20 to 30 companies.
Reporting to the Managing Director, ESG and Sustainability, this position will
work in close partnership with the Investment Analysts and firm leadership.

Responsibilities
include:

·        
Implement Cartica’s
strategy and process of engagement on key ESG issues with portfolio companies

·        
Undertake
research and analysis of industry and country-specific trends that could affect
portfolio companies

·        
Identify needed
improvements in company practices, policies, and disclosures

·        
Engage regularly
with leadership and management of portfolio companies, and present compelling
arguments for improvements in partnership with Investment Analysts

·        
Engage with other
investors to build the case for change at portfolio companies

·        
Develop tools
that can be used across the portfolio to help companies improve their ESG
efforts

·        
Track action
items, results of engagement efforts, and successes across the portfolio

·        
Support reporting
and engagement with Cartica’s investors

·        
Contribute to
thought leadership and other communication efforts for the firm

Ideal
candidate will have:

·        
3 to 5 years of
experience in ESG management working for a private equity, credit, or public
equity investor, or for a public company

·        
Demonstrated
experience interacting with companies to advance an ESG agenda

·        
Experience
interacting with investment professionals and sector experts

·        
Experience
working in Emerging Markets and understanding of nuanced cultural and business
practices

·        
Understanding of
regulatory/legal frameworks surrounding ESG in Emerging Markets

·        
Familiarity with
relevant voluntary ESG frameworks (SASB, TCFD, GRI, CDP, etc.) and ratings
agencies (MSCI, Sustainalytics, Robeco, others)

·        
Knowledge of
proxy voting practices

·        
Strong research,
analytical, and organizational skills

·        
Excellent
communication and persuasion skills

·        
Ability to handle
sensitive matters using independent judgment and discretion

·        
Quantitative and
financial analysis skills a plus

·        
Second language
skills a plus, especially Mandarin, Portuguese, Spanish, Korean

·        
Able to travel to
Emerging Markets (once it’s safe to do so)

·        
Master’s degree
in relevant field preferred
