Maintenance Technician for Apartment Complex (Antioch)

Job Summary:

The Maintenance Technician will perform general maintenance and repairs for assigned equipment and facilities including plumbing, electrical, basic carpentry, heating and cooling, and other building systems. Work in partnership with the Maintenance Supervisor, Portfolio Manager, Community Manager, and DJA leadership to “Make it Home” for our residents.
Job Duties/Responsibilities:
  • • Responds to maintenance requests

  • Fix aesthetic damages after residents move out.

  • Coordinates repair and preventative maintenance by inspecting and identifying maintenance and safety issues at properties.

  • Coordinate and partner with supervisors and onsite staff.

  • Troubleshoots issues to determine necessary repairs.

  • Performs general repairs that do not require a specialized technician. Examples may include repairing drywall, painting, and repairing doors and appliances and other building fixtures.

  • Contacts third-party vendors when necessary.

  • Performs routine and preventative maintenance to ensure that we “Make it Home” for our residents.

  • Cleans and assists with upkeep of the grounds.

  • Orders supplies and materials needed for repairs and maintenance when necessary. Documents all repairs made on our properties through property management software (AppFolio, Yardi, or Teams).

  • Communicates with all team members using appropriate channels.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Follows instructions from supervisors or senior maintenance workers.

  • Knowledge of general carpentry and repair.

  • Ability to use hand tools and power tools.

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.

  • Excellent interpersonal and customer services skills.

Education and Experience:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required

  • Related experience preferred.

  • Experience with a variety of construction disciplines preferred.

  • Professional certification preferred including appliance repair, plumbing, HVAC, or electrical repair.

Physical Requirements:
  • Prolonged periods standing and walking.

  • Must be physically able to climb ladders, bend, or crawl into awkward spaces often.

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time
