Overview

Higher Purpose Co 


Higher Purpose is looking for two dedicated students enrolled at Coahoma Community College for our HBCU internship program. This paid internship is a great opportunity for students. You will learn intentional communication, operational routines, processes, tools, and systems that enhance the effectiveness of our organization and align with our deep economic justice values and passion for change.

Your responsibilities may include but are not limited to: 


  • Assist with event development, timelines, and budgets

  • Monitor event success and communicate any concerns to the supervisor

  • Report updates to the supervisor and/ or HPC staff weekly

  • Develop innovative solutions to improve day-to-day operating objectives

  • Support budget activities related to program development and delivery 

  • Lead outreach efforts to promote Higher Purpose Co initiatives

  • Set up for Higher Purpose Hub events

  • Oversee the office supply inventory

  • Assist with the cleanliness of the workspace  

  • Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures.

  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned. 


Mandatory Requirements

  • Minimum GPA of 2.5 

  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation

  • Availability to work up to 20 hours per week

  • Willingness to participate in an interview

  • Provide (2) references who can speak to your character, work ethic, or academic performance. References must come from a teacher, administrator, community leader, and/ or employer.


Desired Qualifications

  • Good communication skills: must be able to interact effectively with all levels of the organization 

  • Honest and reliable

  • Proficient with the Google Suite of applications (Mail, Calendar, Docs, Sheets, etc...) and Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)

  • Outgoing personality 

  • Must be very organized and able to prioritize tasks. 

  • Detail-oriented self-starter

  • Willing and able to travel

  • Thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment 

  • Energized by the mission and work of Higher Purpose Co and its extraordinary network of leaders


Compensation: 

This is a paid internship. The salary is $5,000 a semester -- $500 biweekly for (5) months.
