The Opportunity 


Crazy dictators and nukes. When it comes to North Korea, that’s usually how the story goes. But through our creative marketing and people-focused storytelling, we are changing the narrative on North Korea and not to brag, (okay, maybe just a humble brag), but it’s working and we want to do more. That’s where you come in with your off-the-charts creativity and storytelling mastery. Web copy, video scripts, brand journalism - you can write it all in your sleep. You’ll be creating content strategies and developing compelling campaigns to engage, educate and activate people around the world to support the North Korean people in their pursuit of freedom, and making your impact through writing and the power of words.  

 

What You’ll Do


·        Help bring creative campaign ideas to life from concept to execution 


·       Create engaging written content in various formats to retain and grow our audience (This includes email copy, blog posts, web page copy, video scripts, presentation scripts, mailers, and more)


·       Source compelling stories of North Korean defectors and LiNK supporters; interview story subjects and decide the best mediums to share these stories 


·       Develop and implement an editorial strategy and roadmap for written content creation


·       In collaboration with the Growth Team (media, marketing and fundraising), produce and edit LiNK’s written content and communications 


·       In collaboration with the fundraising team, produce impactful content communicating donor impact and inspiring generosity


·       In collaboration with the Associate Director of Digital Marketing, develop dynamic content and automated email flows to engage with our supporters


·       Push creative boundaries by constantly pursuing new concepts and approaches and fostering creative thinking among the team (you’ll love our zero-gravity brainstorms)

What You’ll Need


·       Excellent writing, editing and proofreeding skills (obviously) 


·       Ability to write and communicate effectively to different audiences, for various types of content, across multiple platforms


·       Expert storyteller with the ability to self-edit


·       Ideas so innovative they make Einstein blush 


·       Energetic, proactive and self-starting personality with the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively 


·       Ability to multitask, adjust quickly, organize and re-prioritize with proven project management skills 


·       Able to pick up new skills quickly and motivated to continue learning on the job


·       Ability to give and take creative direction/ feedback and embrace change


·       Demonstrated success collaborating across departments and mobilizing content contributors and cross-functional teams around long-term projects and efforts


·       Strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills 


·       A culture shaper who values community

 

Required Experience (1-5 years)*


·       Content marketing (blog posts, email series, video scripts, etc.)

·       Copywriting (ad copy, landing page copy, etc.)

·       Creative writing + storytelling 

·       Copy editing 

 

Bonus Points For


·       Script/speech writing experience


·     Experience in our current platforms (Salesforce, Webflow, Pardot) or similar

*Salary + Title


We are open to candidates with varying levels of experience so please don’t hesitate to apply! For candidates with more experience we are open to hiring at the senior manager level, and for candidates with less experience, we’re open to hiring at a more entry level as well. Salary and title will be dependent on experience.  


Location

This position is based out of our headquarters in downtown Long Beach at 236 E 3rd St Ste 210, Long Beach, CA 90802. We have a hybrid work schedule where we go into the office once a week on Wednesdays.
