Role and Responsibilities
The Energy Storage
Engineering Manager must be able to work effectively in a collaborative, fast
paced environment providing experience on energy storage systems throughout the
project life cycle. They will
demonstrate strong project management, development, and execution
capabilities. The successful candidate will be an innovative
thinker, fast-learner, collaborative worker, and self-starter with a passion
for the renewable energy industry holding a track record of success thriving in
a high growth environment.
Understand the various battery
technologies and industry practices to provide guidance to the
organization on the application of technology.
Educate the procurement,
engineering, and operations teams on latest industry technology.
available and emerging storage technologies and communicate new technology
development and risks associated with the new technology.
Ensure the highest level of environmental health and
safety in all engineering and design aspects of energy storage projects.
optimized and standard designs for utility and C&I customers including but
not limited to the modeling of various operating strategies for the BESS.
energy storage systems in accordance with market and standard requirements.
on optimized storage, design and contracting with an asset management mindset,
including analysis of BESS augmentation strategies.
the testing, evaluation, and certification strategy for energy storage systems.
monitor new technologies for hardware and software/EMS design.
with project development and project finance to support front end project
development, design and financing requirements.
BESS equipment and systems procurement processes, including performing
technical bid evaluation to ensure compliance to specifications.
Education and Experience requirements
degree in engineering, mathematics, or similar discipline.
degree a plus.
2 years of experience with energy storage technology.
years renewables experience (ideally solar).
+ BESS hardware and software design, including SCADA, EMS, and Battery
Management System integration experience.
DC coupled PV + BESS experience a plus.
engineering experience specific to power electronics and controls.
evaluating a range of cell chemistries.
with rack and enclosure designs.
with BESS failure and root cause analysis.
with systems engineering and integration.
of battery and solar inverters, DC-DC converters, and charge controllers.
developing and testing hardware for energy storage, solar or wind energy
with field deployment of energy storage, solar or wind energy conversion
designing and deploying lithium ion, as well as other energy storage systems.
on fire and safety requirements for energy storage systems.
with contracting suppliers and system integrators and pairing with storage
ability to model battery + storage designs and generations/operations profiles.
