Manager - Best in Class


About the Position


The Commit Partnership is seeking a Manager to lead Best in Class’s key initiatives to attract and prepare great educators to serve the North Texas region. This role includes managing TeachDFW, a key initiative focused on how to elevate the teaching profession, increase the number of applications to higher-quality teacher preparation programs and school systems, and increase the diversity of the applicant pool. The TeachDFW Initiative includes a marketing campaign and collaboration with many teacher preparation program (TPP) and school system partners.


The Manager reports to the Managing Director of Best in Class.



·        A bachelor’s degree required (in education, business, marketing, strategy, or communications field preferred), an advanced degree is preferred (MBA, MEd, Public Administration)

·        Experience in marketing, project management, and/or strategy roles in a non-profit, education, or for-profit institution

·        Experience working in schools and/or education organization strongly preferred

·        Excellent judgment and creative, collaborative problem-solving skills

·        Entrepreneurial team player who can multitask

·        Gathers appropriate data and can structure analysis to create insights about the efficacy of the team’s work and to help answer questions about teacher recruitment and pipelines

·        Superior project management and work planning skills; ability to juggle multiple projects at once and timely and effectively communicate progress and hurdles to the Managing Director; ability to effectively manage up to make the most of Managing Director’s time and input

·        Ability to engage, support, and influence peers and partners at organizations involved in Best in Class’s work (teacher preparation programs, school district administrators, educators, other non-profit staff and advocates)

·        Self -reliant, good problem solver, results oriented

·        Energetic, flexible, collaborative, and proactive;

·        Exceptional written, oral, interpersonal, and presentation skills and the ability to effectively

     interface with teammates at Commit, The Communities Foundation of Texas, the many virtual team members at,      other vendor teams such as event planners and graphic designers, and over 100 individuals at other organizations who inte     rface with the TeachDFW Initiative

·        Ability to operate as an effective tactical as well as strategic thinker

·        Passion for Commit’s mission and that aligns organization’s core values



Marketing Campaign Management -

  • Manage key vendor relationships that enable the TeachDFW platform and related marketing activities to take place; includes multiple project management and product/content development calls with the team and occasional work with graphic designers, AdWords contractor, and the Commit communications team
  • Supervise and support intern as they develop content for website, email, and social media; engaging with to train intern on effective practices for content development
  • Create content such as webpage copy, webpage assets, email copy, social media assets, and copy; steering the direction of video content while working with Commit communications team to develop
  • Collaborate with partner organizations to source content, deploy developed assets and on projects that require their participation (e.g., lead generation for My Application Coach, confirming TeachDFW has the appropriate content); often this work is a hand-off between partners and team
  • Make decisions about spending TeachDFW budget to optimize the use of spend on social media and other lead-generating tools


Support Partners & Relationship Building -

  • Meet with individual Teacher Prep Program recruiters, their teams, district employees and non-profits that support educators
  • Join relevant convenings and meetings that are relevant to TeachDFW’s work (e.g., Dallas ISD pre-teaching ECHS group, Dallas ISD Alt. Cert advisory committee)
  • Experience and knowledge share with partner organizations in Dallas-Fort Worth and other regions (e.g., Good Reason Houston)
  • Complete requests for analysis and support from partners, especially from Educator Prep Programs and related requests for advocacy work around teacher recruitment and preparation


Educator Prep Program and District Leaders Working Group –

  • Design and implement a strategy to foster data-sharing, collaboration and continuous improvement between educator preparation programs and districts
  • Use data to understand assets and challenges facing our region’s ability to attract and prepare excellent educators; organize data (PPTs, memos, social media) in easy to understand formats to enable understanding of multiple stakeholders
  • Build positive, professional relationships with senior leaders of Educator Preparation Programs, school districts, and charter management organizations
  • Present publicly and with confidence to senior leaders, small and large groups; facilitate large groups to shared outcomes


Teacher Survey and other data collection –

Teacher survey:

    • Determine research questions in collaboration with Commit teams and partners
    • Write survey in coordination with survey partner (to date, Bain & Company)
    • Coordinate distribution with ISDs and EPPs
    • Coordinate analysis with Bain
    • Coordinate distribution with Commit communications team

Other data collection:

    • TeachDFW Initiative outcome data collection
    • Data requests and analysis that inform the Educator Prep Program and District working group
    • Up-level monthly marketing analytics to rest of Commit / Best in Class and partner teams


 Commit & Best in Class Support Work

  • Be a team player, actively working to build a positive, joyful team culture and help us all advance our mission to increase access to excellent educators
  • Actively participate and in some cases present at weekly team and all-staff meetings
  • Co-lead the North Texas Teachers Council alongside colleagues in Early Matters Dallas
  • Requests to support team, as needed (planned and “Fire-drills”)
