ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES

Primergy is seeking a Sr. Manager, Operations & Maintenance to join our Asset Management team reporting to our VP, Asset Management. The Sr. Manager, Operations & Maintenance is responsible for developing and executing O&M strategies that maximize the performance and value of the company’s utility-scale renewable generation and storage portfolio across multiple wholesale power markets. This role provides O&M supervision over providers and vendors ensuring safety and maintenance standards are being met. The Sr. Manager, Operations & Maintenance partners closely with third-party O&M providers and other vendors to ensure the operating sites are proactively being monitored and maintained to maximize performance and minimize operational expenses.

 

In addition, this role oversees the performance, reliability, and maintenance strategy for a portfolio of utility-scale solar and BESS assets, ensuring optimal uptime and energy production. This role oversees external service providers, manages O&M budgets and contracts, and drives continuous improvement through data analysis, preventive maintenance programs, and technology integration. The position also ensures compliance with safety, regulatory, and environmental standards while coordinating closely with Asset Management, Engineering, and Commercial teams to maximize asset value.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE

  • Lead the Operations & Maintenance function for all operating sites.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive operations and maintenance strategies for solar and BESS systems.
  • Establish standard operating procedures and best practices to ensure efficient and safe operations.
  • Monitor and evaluate system performance, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective measures.
  • Cross-functional collaboration to optimize system performance, troubleshoot issues, and resolve technical problems.
  • Support document review and negotiations for operations-related agreements including, but not limited to, O&M agreements, long-term service agreements, and warranties.
  • Manage relationships with subcontractors, ensuring compliance with contractual obligations and performance standards.
  • Coordinate subcontractor activities, including scheduling, work assignments, and quality control.
  • Conduct site visits and inspections to monitor subcontractor performance and adherence to safety protocols.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to subcontractors, ensuring their work meets industry standards and specifications.
  • Develop and maintain accurate records of system performance, maintenance activities, and repairs.
  • Support and contribute to the preparation of regular reports and analysis on system performance, efficiency, and reliability.
  • Identify trends and patterns to proactively address potential issues and optimize system operations.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to develop performance metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs) for monitoring and reporting.  
  • Work cross-functionally with other teams to develop and execute on OPEX strategies.
  • Operational guidance and support of new asset onboarding.
  • Support compliance with relevant NERC and other regulatory obligations.
  • Support the Environmental team in compliance with site-specific requirements.
  • Travel, as required.

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or Business or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Electrical Journeyman license, and/or Electrician training/certification or relevant electrical trade qualification preferred.
  • Minimum 7 years of experience working in operations and maintenance of solar and BESS systems.
  • Strong technical competence in solar and battery technologies, including installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair.
  • Experience in managing subcontractors and ensuring their compliance with contractual obligations.
  • Up to date on industry trends, emerging technologies, and regulatory requirements related to renewable energy systems.
  • Experience providing technical assistance and guidance to internal teams, subcontractors, and clients.
