Job Description:

The American Society of Adaptation Professionals is seeking a (REMOTE) experienced Curriculum Content Designer - Climate Adaptation with extensive expertise in creating curricula for a range of clients, i.e., engineering, planning and health professionals, climate workforce development managers, community finance and academic institutions, rural/ urban communities and municipalities, philanthropies and private sector clients.

  • The curriculum content designer is crucial in developing content, resources, and initiatives that not only meet but exceed ASAP’s intended outcomes and goals outlined in its mission and strategic goals.

  • The curriculum content designer will employ ethical standards and pedagogical best practices in vetting internal and external climate curriculum resources, aligning with the needs of ASAP’s membership, funders, clients, partners, and external audiences.

  • The curriculum content designer will conduct comprehensive reviews and assessments of existing internal content, identifying areas for improvement and enhancement.

  • The curriculum content designer will analyze current resources in the behavioral, engineering, political, health, physical and earth sciences, indigenous knowledge, academia, business and capital markets.

  • The curriculum content designer will consult with stakeholders to define (a) an appropriate range of content delivery platforms and techniques, (b) realistic expectations of learning and execution outcomes, (c) the co-design of appropriate content/curriculum, (d) a methodology of collaboration to ensure place-specific learning support, and (e) systems of support that deliver a quality transformative training experience.

  • The curriculum content designer will collaborate with internal and external authors, illustrators, subject matter experts, and other stakeholders to ensure the quality and relevance of the curriculum design format and materials.

  • The curriculum content designer will provide guidance to members who wish to publish in climate-related journals, or who produce climate-related content for film and other virtual platforms

  • The curriculum content designer will collaborate with ASAP’s communication and marketing team to review and edit the layout, design, and production of print and digital curriculum resources.


Job Qualifications:

The ideal candidate for the position of curriculum content designer will possess:

  • A minimum of a BA/BS degree (or work equivalent) in curriculum design, journalism, or related field. A Master's degree preferred.

  • A minimum of seven years experience in climate adaptation, resilience, mitigation, advocacy, consultancy, environmental policy or law.

  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy, with a demonstrated ability to deliver high-quality work on time and within budget.

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

  • Expert knowledge of virtual learning formats, platforms, and optimum content delivery.

  • Knowledge of multilingual support platforms and/or fluency in Spanish is a plus.


The Curriculum Content Designer—Climate Adaptation position is a remote-based, flex-time, and contracted position for 12 months, with an expectation of a full-time, salaried staff position in 2026.

The position requires approximately 10-15 hours per week and is 90% virtual. It requires limited travel for internal meetings with staff, external meetings with clients, and 2-3 conferences/year.

The salary for this position is negotiable, and dependent on the candidate’s professional experience, educational background, references, and an abbreviated portfolio of recent work.
