Job Summary:

 

 

Estimators are responsible for winning new, profitable work for the company. The Estimator will create and prepare detailed proposals for the bidding process, respond to and solicit bid invitations, and attend pre-construction, bid, and walk through meetings as needed.   

Level and compensation will be based on experience, qualifications, and demonstrated estimating capabilities.

 

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for execution of preconstruction strategy and achieving new contract goals. 

  • Responsible for bidding projects ranging from $5K to $5 million. 

  • Responsible for actively estimating 5 to 10 opportunities at a time. 

  • Work with overall team to create and prepare accurate estimates and detailed proposals. 

  • Solicit and respond to bid invitations. 

  • Participate in pre-bid walkthroughs as necessary. 

  • Actively manage multiple opportunities from initial review to awarding of contract. 

  • Develop and maintain client relationships. 

  • Maintain & extend the professional & ethical reputation of the new construction team    

 

Requirements and Preferred Experience:

  • 3+ years of experience with commercial construction project management and/or estimating. 

  • Experience with estimating process from take-offs, pricing, preparing/submitting proposals, and contract review. 

  • Experience negotiating and reviewing contracts. 

  • Experience with Bluebeam, On Screen Takeoff, or Plan Swift. 

  • Extensive experience with Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Calendar. 

  • Hands on project management or field installation experience preferred. 

  • Self-directed professional with the ability to work with minimal supervision. 

  • Maintain professional, timely communication with customers.  

  • Professional presentation skills, and excellent written and verbal communication skills. 

  • Excellent attention to detail. 

  • Strategic and critical thinking abilities in a fast-paced environment. 

  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills. 

  • Demonstrated ability to interact, communicate, and collaborate effectively with all levels of the organization, clients, and staff.  

  • Ability to work under pressure and perform multifaceted projects in conjunction with daily activities.  

 

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering, or a related field; equivalent combination of education and relevant commercial construction estimating/project management experience will be considered.

  • Must be 21 years of age.  

  • Must have a valid driver license.  

  • Must pass drug screen, criminal background check and driver’s license check.   

  • Ability to travel up to 25% of the time.
