About the Position
The Project Manager is responsible to plan, develop and update technical content and conduct ongoing support for the implementation of assigned Build It Green contracts and services cross-departmentally. Projects may be in the area of program development, codes and standards, research and development and will budget and/or manage contract billing as assigned. Will manage programs and contracts such as development of technical documentation content/resources and technical implementation support for quality assurance and field quality control, as well as program and information-systems design. May also conduct event planning, training content development, research, presentation and/or collaborative-delivery covering various types of subject matter including technical trainings (combustion appliance safety, energy modeling, etc.), participant education and networking events, participation workshops and webinars.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
Program/Project Management
  • Plan, organize, and manage projects to support programs and research projects to meet relevant objectives, taking initiative and working independently when needed, as assigned. Support tracking and reporting progress, taking corrective action as needed.
  • Lead project planning and development of assigned projects within programs and research contracts and support planning and development of program objectives and planning cross-departmentally.
  • Utilize subject matter credentialing and expertise to compare, interpret and evaluate standards, protocols, and requirements to update and/or develop project, program or service design decisions and documentation including but not limited to manuals, policies, and procedures to support program development, changes or clarifications. Example: provide technical consultation for new and existing programs update or redesign for programs such as Air Conditioning Quality Care, Home Upgrade, Home Energy Score, Low-Income Weatherization, Green Point Rated, etc.
  • Support program delivery as needed, including technical implementation, QA and FQC activities.
  • Support Education Department’s event planning as it pertains to assigned project content and requirement within programs and/or research contracts. Support process may include project-specific management and guidance for staff performing scheduling, logistics planning, material production, registration, customer service, promotion, and reconciliation.
  • Lead and/or support the maintenance and business-side development of Build It Green’s program information systems/database(s) to ensure accurate program participant records processing, reporting, evaluation, measurement and verification, as assigned.
  • Lead and/or support the maintenance and updating of Build It Green’s program websites and assist with marketing, communication and outreach efforts to increase program participation, requirements awareness and training attendance, as assigned.
  • Research new technologies, processes, techniques and/or home building standards as may be identified or are in development with jurisdictions, cities and/or city Planning or Code Enforcement divisions.
  • Demonstrated excellent customer service and stakeholder engagement skills to promote Build It Green’s program and contract services activities.
  • Write technical documents or administrative procedures in support of project/program design or development.
  • Collaborate with internal and external colleagues in green home building technologies.
  • Other duties as assigned.
External Communication and Public Speaking
  • Speak before groups of customers, participants, community members or employees and prepare and deliver presentations and/or represent Build It Green to external audiences.
  • Advocate for Build It Green’s mission to external stakeholders.
Team and Collaboration
  • Develop effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders ensuring clear and timely communication and coordination of activities as appropriate.
  • Effectively support other subject matter experts, trainers, staff, outside vendors and sub-contractors to ensure services are delivered on time and within budget and organization methods.
Finance and Administration
  • Plan, execute, monitor and report on assigned project and task budget(s). Support invoicing and contract administration as needed.
  • Provide timely internal and external reporting to senior management, service partners, funders, and others.
EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, EDUCATION
  • Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.) from four-year college or university in a related field OR equivalent combination of 4-years education and work experience with 2 years in construction, home performance contracting, or a related field as it related to heating, cooling, lighting or the energy efficiency and healthy homes.
  • Additional specific work experience (this would be in addition to both BA/BS or equivalent combination of education and work experience as described above):
  • 2 years of experience with project delivery and/or program implementation with strong experience in project management.
  • 2 years of experience in residential construction industry (may be in construction, home performance contracting, or a related field, particularly as it relates to heating, cooling, lighting, weatherization, other energy-efficiency related projects or programs.
  • Required certification, including BPI Building Analyst and DOE Home Energy Score Assessor.
  • Energy modeling software user and/or QA review experience (EnergyPro, SnuggPro, OptiMiser, etc.).
  • Effective communications, verbally, in writing, and public speaking to present ideas and information to employees, client and partner participants, management and/or other stakeholders.
  • Problem-solver and action-oriented self-starter, eager to provide solutions to questions and respond to requests for guidance.
  • Intermediate knowledge of computer systems and software principles and procedures including knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Google Mail, Calendar and other web-apps, SmartSheet and other relevant programs. Related skills would include the ability to conduct webinars, draft reports using Excel or provide written guidance or instruction in Word. Ability to conduct internet web-based research, info/resource lookups, etc. Experience working with web-based CRM platforms to enter, view, manage and report on data.
  • Ability to work independently and remotely to manage multiple tasks and priorities with minimal supervision and to meet deadlines. Excellent organizational skills are required.
  • Maintain a high degree of professionalism and view every action in terms of organization and customer impact.
  • Must have a valid, current California Driver’s License.
