About the Position
The Contractor Support Manager supports key contractors participating in utility and financing programs implemented and managed by Build It Green. Support includes relationship development,
mentoring, communications, and new contractor recruitment with residential building contractors. The Manager provides support and client relationship selling. and may spend up to 80% of the time
in the field meeting contractor clients. Work is conducted in the field (up to 80% of the time meeting contractor clients), and also in the Oakland HQ Build office. Pre-approved telecommuting is provided after completing a successful training period. This position will be assigned to serve 40+ home construction/remodeler contractor partners and will be required to visit contractor work sites, provide telephone and email support services. Assigned contractors are in the
California geographic region covering from Bakersfield north to the Nevada border. Qualified
candidates must have reliable transportation, and a good driving record. The candidate must have a proven track record of working independently, exceptional customer service, organizational and excellent communications skills.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
Client Management
  • Provide relationship development and management to assigned partner contractor clients.
  • Client services is conducted via email, telephone and in-person presentation.
  • Mentor contractors as guidance is required for new contractor set-up or when a program expectation is not being fulfilled by the contractor. Provide clear communications and explanations of service expectations.
  • Report account management activities provided, issues identified by contractors, and other feedback as collected and enter activities into a customer relationship management (CRM) platform (SalesForce) daily.
  • Identify tactics to develop contractor knowledge and understanding of program requirements so that the contractor is equipped to participate in the program and to be successful. Identify new tactics, methods, and efficiencies in providing contractor support services as new programs come onboard.
  • Must be able to commute/drive to client contractor business locations as needed, must have access to reliable transportation.
Communication and Public Speaking
  • Prepare and deliver presentations on the utility and finance programs managed by Build It Green and/or present to external audiences.
  • Speak before groups of customers or employees of organizations. Must be a confident and professional presenter.
Team and People Coordination
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts, trainers, and outside vendors and sub-contractors to ensure services are delivered on time, within budget and organization methods.
  • Coordinate with cross-departmental staff
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Provide proactive and regular communication with the Contract Services Manager, with the team and other program managers, as needed.
Finance and Administration
  • Monitor and report project and task budget(s) related to program activities using appropriate information systems and provide timely accurate reporting to manager, service partners and other internal colleagues.
  • Manage tasks including communication, budget control, and invoicing.
  • Ensure project, program or service documentation including but not limited to manuals, policies, and procedures, is accurate, complete and current.
EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, EDUCATION REQUIRED
  • Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.) from four-year College or university in a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience such as would be gained working 5 years in the construction industry.
  • Minimum 3 years knowledge about residential construction/building science skills with an intermediate working knowledge of energy efficiency, building science, HVAC, construction or related fields.
  • Clear, concise and effective communications, verbally and in writing to present ideas and information to employees, clients, management and/or other stakeholders.
  • Collaboration skills to be able to maximize team coordination and enhanced results.
  • Problem-Solver. As an action-oriented self-starter, you’re eager to apply your expertise to provide solutions to questions and request for guidance.
  • Personable. Establish and nurture highly effective relationships with colleagues and key stakeholders to support and advance project objectives with contractor clients.
  • Credible. With reliable residential building science knowledge to provide support, and establish credibility as a reliable resource to the client.
  • Knowledge of computer systems principles and procedures including knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project and other relevant programs, such as the ability to conduct webinars, draft reports using Excel or provide written guide or instruction in Word. Ability to conduct internet web research info lookups etc. Experience working with web-based CRM platforms to view, manage and enter data.
  • Basic office management skills (telephone, use of other office equipment).
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks and priorities with minimal supervision and to meet deadlines. Excellent organizational skills required.
Other
  • Valid California Drivers’ License, a good driving record and access to a reliable personal vehicle.
  • Mileage incurred as a result of driving your personal vehicle for company business, (excluding your regular commute to/from home to the office) is reimbursable at the IRS Standard Mileage Rate.
  • Personal cell phone usage for business expense incurred is reimbursable according to the Build It Green cell phone expense reporting procedure.
  • Ability to work Monday through Friday, 8 hours per day, during business hours as identified by client contract, occasional overtime.

Position requires constant periods of sitting and working at a computer and frequent talking on the telephone.

Position is office based, however does require travel by automobile up to 80% of the time.
