About the Position
The Manager reports to the Senior Marketing and Communications Manager and plays a key role in running a small, busy marketing team. This positions requires a creative communicator with the mind of a marketer, who can develop strategies and run marketing campaigns—email, social, direct mail, ppc—that get results. This job needs a detail-oriented doer who can draft copy, segment email lists, hit the send button, monitor the analytics, and figure out what worked and what didn’t. At heart, you’re a collaborator, writer and storyteller who knows how to grab attention through compelling blog posts, conversational tweets, video clips, emails, and landing pages. As a writer and editor, you also have a knack for translating technical concepts into clear prose.

Duties & Responsibilities
- Draft compelling, creative copy across multiple formats and channels, including website, blog, e-newsletter, social media, print collateral, etc. You must frequently translate technical concepts and key messages into clear prose. Be sure to provide 3-5 writing samples in your application.
- Copyedit and format the documents of other staff to improve clarity and professionalism.
- Assist the Senior Marketing Manager in developing marketing goals, plans, and campaigns.
- Work with managers and directors to understand the goals, scope, and customer needs for existing programs and new business ventures; develop supportive marketing and communications initiatives.
- Oversee marketing and communications for designated BIG programs and contracts, working to meet goals, implement plans, and fulfill ongoing marketing requests from staff.
- Set up and run marketing campaigns, including email, direct mail, social, and pay-per-click.
- Manage BIG’s social media platforms to grow followers and increase engagement.
- Supervise freelance graphic and web designers, and collaborate with them to create visually compelling materials.
- Serve as the marketing team’s project manager, prioritizing tasks and tracking progress; you must be able to support multiple projects at once in a fast-paced office.
- Act as primary administrator of BIG’s email marketing and marketing automation platform, setting up campaigns and maintaining contact lists.
- Oversee the management and day-to-day updating of BIG’s website, driving traffic with compelling content and Search Engine Optimization (SEO) best practices.
- Build and maintain relationships with external partners and stakeholders, including nonprofit and public agency staff, building professionals, and media professionals.
- Track and report marketing performance and key performance indicators.
- Manage marketing labor and expense budgets for designated projects.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.) from four-year College or University in a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum 3 years of experience as a communications and marketing professional or related experience such as journalism or publishing.
- Superb writing and editing skills, and effective oral communications skills.
- Experience planning and implementing marketing and outreach campaigns.
- Proven collaboration skills and creativity to encourage successful marketing initiatives.
- Ability to take initiative and act independently. Driven and solution-oriented; can overcome obstacles to drive projects through completion.
Technical Skills
- Expert knowledge of Microsoft Office and Windows.
- Experience managing social media platforms.
- Experience with email marketing or marketing automation platforms.
- Experience with website content management systems.
- Proficiency with Salesforce a plus.
- Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite a plus.
Work Environment
- The position requires constant periods of sitting/standing and working at a computer.
