Build It Green is a leading non-profit organization whose mission is to work with building and real estate professionals, public utilities, local and state governments, and homeowners to increase awareness and adoption of green building practices. Our mission is to promote healthy, energy and resource-efficient building practices in California through outreach, contract administration, and education.   Our work environment is collaborative, all about home energy efficiency best practices, new technologies in this area, and client focused. 

Experience in construction, home performance contracting or a related field, particularly as it relates to heating, cooling, lighting, weatherization, and other energy-efficiency related experience is required and strong project management skills.  This is mostly an office based position that will manage and direct the program to meet contracted terms and requirements.

The Senior Program Manager role works in conjunction with our Utility Client’s Whole House Rebate Program, consistent with the Energy Upgrade California brand.  As the Program leader, he or she will oversee the design and implementation of the program including processing rebate applications, assisting contractors with developing the necessary technical skills, and managing the quality control process. 

The Manager will manage direct reports, as well as participate with and oversee cross-functional teams to execute the work plan in order to:

• Effectively coordinate with client representative to implement contract administration requirements per the Client’s contracted expectations.

• Promptly respond to Client’s ad-hoc requests to understand scope and deliver within expected timeframe.

• Present program metrics thoroughly and accurately to Client during ad hoc, weekly, quarterly, annual meetings.

• Monitor and report on client-specific key performance indicators for quarterly deliverables.

• Frequently coordinate between Information Systems & Program Operations to maintain program data integrity.

• Complete ongoing application pipeline analysis and update application incentive forecast accordingly to achieve 10% monthly variance goal.

• Complete ongoing implementation spend analysis and update implantation forecast accordingly to achieve 10% monthly variance goal.

• Coordinate with Director to appropriately allocate resources and implement within program budget.   

RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES 

Strategy and Vision

• Participate in organizational initiatives to identify new business opportunities and partnerships.  Develop effective program implementation work plans to meet the goals and objectives. 

Project Management

• Oversee the cross-functional team responsible for implementing the program.

• Coordinate program operations to maximize program participation and response to ensure high level of customer service. 

• Ensure program documentation, including but not limited to, reporting, manuals, policies, and procedures, is accurate, complete, and current.  

• Assist in the development, implementation and enhancement of quality assurance standards, installation specifications, and quality assurance delivery systems. 

• Promptly respond to questions and follow through, or refer to others, as needed to ensure resolution.

• Effectively manage and/or coordinate the dispute resolution process to ensure an effective resolution.

• Provide accurate, complete and timely reporting to internal and external audiences. 

• Track program deliverables, ensuring data is current, accurate and complete.  

• Speak before groups of customers or employees of organization.  Prepare and deliver presentations and/or represent Build It Green to external audiences.  

• Supervise Associates and/or Assistants.

• Supervise cross-functional teams drawn from other departments

• Manage external consultants, subcontractors, and vendors.

• Develop effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

• Effectively manage, lead, coach and develop staff to achieve organization’s mission and goals.

Finance and Administration

• Develop and manage program budget(s) of up to $5,000,000 in revenue.

• Develop and coordinate project or program tracking and reporting within established deadlines.

• Complete financial analysis and develop financial performance forecasts and work plans.

• Contribute to annual budgeting process.

SKILLS and QUALIFICATIONS

Work Experience

Experience in construction, home performance contracting or a related field, particularly as it relates to heating, cooling, lighting, weatherization, and other energy-efficiency related projects is required. 

• Experience managing budgets up to $5,000,000

• Minimum 6 years of experience overseeing teams composed of 4-10 people, often composed of team members who report to other managers.  

• Minimum of 4 years of supervisory experience with a strong working knowledge of management practices including relevant employment laws, regulations and best practices. 

• Develop, lead and manage multiple projects and goals, and plans with complex deliverables. 

• Take initiative and act independently.  And ability to work collaboratively with others. 

• Maintain a high degree of professionalism and view every action and decision in terms of organization and customer impact.

• Demonstrated flexibility to move between tasks and achieve deliverables and deadlines.

• Demonstrated ability to effectively resolve problems that balance multiple needs and interests.

• Demonstrated ability for accuracy and thoroughness in completing work. 

• Intermediate proficiency with MS Office Suite and Windows operating system.

• Basic proficiency with HTML, Salesforce, and webinar communication programs. 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES AND OTHER 

• Valid California Driver’s License and a good driving record

• Access to reliable transportation

• Auto Liability Insurance for private passenger vehicles as required by the California Insurance Code.  

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE

A Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.) from four-year College or University in a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience. Strong knowledge of the residential construction industry, sustainable building practices, and energy efficiency.
