POSITION SUMMARY:
IBROC is dedicated to empowering small businesses, particularly those founded by underrepresented Founders, to recover, rebuild, and thrive in the face of economic challenges. Our mission is to provide comprehensive access to resources, training, funding opportunities, and mentorship to foster resilient and sustainable business growth in the City of Dayton.
The Executive Director serves as the visionary leader of IBROC, responsible for driving the organization’s mission, strategy, and operations. This role requires a dynamic, inclusive, and strategic leader who can build partnerships, secure funding, and champion economic growth recovery for small businesses across the City of Dayton. The Executive Director will be employed by the Entrepreneurs Center, reporting to the IBROC Leadership Team, consisting of the President of the Entrepreneurs Center, and the Executive Director of the Miami Valley Urban League.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Strategic Leadership

Provide strategic leadership and vision to achieve IBROC’s mission and goals.

Ensure compliance with financial, operational, and reporting requirements.

Serve as the primary spokesperson for IBROC, advocating for small business owners, particularly those from historically underrepresented communities.

Cultivate partnerships with public, private, and nonprofit sectors to expand IBROC’s impact and leverage resources for greater community reach.
Program Development and Management

Establish and maintain strong partnerships with business support organizations (BSOs), financial institutions, and community stakeholders.

Oversee the design and delivery of programs, including financial assistance, business training, mentorship, and technical support for small businesses.

Ensure programs are accessible, culturally competent, and tailored to the unique needs of diverse entrepreneurs.

Monitor program outcomes, evaluate impact, and adjust strategies to maximize effectiveness and reach.
Fundraising and Financial Management

Lead fundraising efforts, including grant writing, sponsorships, donor cultivation, and partnerships with public and private funding sources to ensure long-term financial sustainability.

Develop and manage the annual budget (approximately $1.5M), ensuring fiscal responsibility and transparency in collaboration with the Advisory Board and financial staff.
Community Engagement and Partnerships

Build and maintain strong relationships with community stakeholders, government agencies, local businesses, and nonprofit organizations to amplify IBROC’s impact.

Represent IBROC in public forums, media, and industry events to raise awareness and build support for the organization’s mission.
Team Leadership and Organizational Management

Lead and supervise IBROC staff, including but not limited to the Convening Manager and Capacity Building Manager.

Oversee daily operations, ensuring efficient and effective delivery of services.

Collaborate with the IBROC Advisory Board to set organizational priorities, provide regular updates, and ensure governance compliance.

Serve as the accountable owner of all IBROC program outcomes and deliverables — the ED is responsible not only for leading the team but for the results the team produces. Delegation of tasks does not transfer ownership of outcomes.

Establish clear, measurable objectives for each direct report that align explicitly with IBROC’s organizational goals, ensuring individual performance expectations are tied directly to program milestones and community impact targets.
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Nonprofit Management, Public Administration, or equivalent combination of education and experience; relevant professional experience may substitute for degree requirements.

Minimum of 7–10 years of leadership experience in nonprofit management, economic development, or business support services.

Proven track record in fundraising, including securing grants, corporate sponsorships, and individual donations.

Familiarity with small business ecosystems, economic recovery programs, or community development initiatives.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The work environment characteristics described are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Position is typically office or administrative work and is not exposed to adverse environmental conditions.
Some domestic travel, though rare, may be required.
Limited evening or weekend hours may be required.
