Architectural Urban Designer for S9 Architecture & Engineering DPC to work at our New York, NY loc. Limited telecommuting may be permitted.
- Research, plan, design, + admin complex, mid to large scale projects, incl large mixed‐use residential, commercial + hotel projects, + interior design.
- Lead client meetings to understand needs + goals, convey project design to incl purpose, objectives, + relevant info.
- Collab + energize design team to develop solutions to design problems such as site constraints + spatial planning.
- Originate + develop creative design concepts + design docs in all phases: incl building massing, open space, façade material, building access + entry sequences, vehicular circulation on site, + building + site‐wide graphics + wayfinding.
- Develop + coordinate complete design package incl branding to convey vision of architect to client re landscape, signage, building materiality, functional components such as loading dock + parking. Interpret, organize, execute + coordinate assignments between client + consultants to ensure successful realization of project.
- Use software + equipment to prep designs + communicate visualization of project using Rhino, Revit + Enscape.
- Prep design computations + quantity estimates for building.
- Review Cost Estimates for accuracy + alignment w/ design docs.
- Project coordination from concept through design development phases.
- Review CDs + onsite construction w/ design intent.
- Map physical site opportunities, constraints + review local development codes + other relevant regulatory parameters.
- Perform program development calculations to inform site test fits.
- Develop conceptual plan frameworks for open space, circulation, + land use.
- Design documentation incl master plan by generating renderings, diagrams, + precedent images.
- Design + research resiliency strategies for building to support compliance w/ city + federal FEMA regs.
- Participate in Value Engineering of design to meet budget expectations.
- Work on Entitlement + Zoning exhibits as part of Site Planning Approvals.
- Lead + instruct Jr Designer in prep of Design Docs. Provide guidance on daily tasks + review + mark up work for correction.
Little local and national travel for site visits, client meetings, and presentations may be involved at no more than 5 days per year.
Must have a Bachelor of Architecture, Design Studies, or rel field and 3 yrs of rel architectural design exp. Also reqs skills (3 yrs exp) in: Revit, Rhino, Enscape, AutoCAD, Sketch-Up, Photoshop, and InDesign; developing projects in NY State; zoning regulations, building codes, and construction documentation; high-rise concrete construction; curtainwall and window-wall design in NYC.
Wage range $66,000 – $95,000.
