We Are Hiring: Network Security Engineer - Hybrid - Nassau County, NY required.
We’re seeking a skilled and motivated Network Engineer to join our dynamic team at Solarus Technologies. This is a fully onsite role (5 days a week) supporting our clients across the NYC area. The ideal candidate is technically strong, client-focused, and thrives in a fast-paced managed service provider (MSP) environment.
Responsibilities
- Design, configure, and maintain LAN/WAN infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless networks.
- Implement, monitor, and troubleshoot network performance to ensure reliability, scalability, and security.
- Manage network security tools including firewalls, VPNs, and intrusion detection/prevention systems.
- Support VoIP systems, VLAN configurations, and QoS implementations.
- Conduct regular network assessments, capacity planning, and performance optimization.
- Collaborate with internal teams to plan and execute infrastructure upgrades and migrations.
- Provide onsite troubleshooting and escalation support for complex networking issues.
- Maintain comprehensive and up-to-date documentation for network topology and configurations.
- Assist in disaster recovery and business continuity planning related to network infrastructure.
- Stay current with emerging technologies and make recommendations to improve network efficiency and security.
- Deliver high-quality, professional communication and service to clients during all onsite engagements.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of hands-on experience as a Network Engineer, preferably within an MSP or client-facing environment.
- Strong knowledge of Cisco and/or Fortinet networking equipment.
- Proven experience with routing protocols (BGP, OSPF), switching, and network segmentation.
- Expertise with firewalls, VPNs, and remote access technologies.
- Experience with network monitoring and management tools (e.g., SolarWinds, PRTG, Meraki Dashboard).
- Familiarity with Microsoft 365, Azure networking concepts, and cloud connectivity.
- Excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills with attention to detail.
- Strong communication and client-service orientation.
- Relevant certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, or CompTIA Network+ are preferred.
