Staff Scientist, In Vivo Pharmacology

Position Overview:

The In Vivo Pharmacology Staff Scientist is a key member of the Moonwalk R&D team, helping to drive the company's early target validation and translational science in metabolic conditions. In this role, you will lead Moonwalk’s In Vivo pharmacology studies and oversee animal model development, working closely with the platform technology and biology teams. You will also work closely with the leadership team to align research programs with business objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design and execution of in vivo PK/PD, proof-of-concept, and target validation studies, and help translate findings in order to advance preclinical projects
  • Provide leadership and guidance to cross-functional scientific teams, fostering collaboration and innovation.
  • Establish a network of vendors and CROs needed to maintain robust preclinical discovery efforts using in vivo models and adjacent technologies
  • Oversee new model development and natural history studies, and work closely with biology and computational teams to fully characterize, interpret data, and to build compelling data packages

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree (Ph.D. and/or M.D.) in Pharmacology, Physiology, or related field with at least 6 years of relevant industry experience.
  • Proven track record of scientific leadership in the metabolic diseases, demonstrated by establishing research programs leading to target validation, pre-clinical research, translational research, and IND-enabling studies.
  • Experience with IACUC and vivarium operations
  • Design and execution of experiments in animal models for metabolic, cardiovascular, liver, or related diseases
  • Strong project management skills and ability to lead cross-functional teams.
  • Strong track record of strong scientific research, demonstrated by high-quality publications, conference talks, and patents.
  • Experience with cell and gene therapy and/or novel therapeutic modalities is a plus
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to various stakeholders.

 

Salary ranges from $120,000 to $160,000
