Salary: $125,000/yr. - $135,000/yr. Commensurate with experience

Position Overview:
The In-House Associate Counsel will play a key role in supporting the legal affairs of Grameen. This position will provide legal assistance and guidance on a wide range of matters, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations, and supporting organizational goals and the work of the office of the General Counsel. The position reports to the General Counsel.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide support to General Counsel on all aspects of corporate legal matters affecting Grameen’s operations and strategic plans.
- Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, agreements, and other legal documents.
- Assist with the development and implementation of company policies and procedures to ensure legal compliance and best practices.
- Support the General Counsel in managing litigation, disputes, and investigations as needed.
- Advise on employment law issues, intellectual property, risk management, AI use, and data privacy, among other practice areas.
- Conduct legal research and monitor developments in relevant laws and regulations.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to assess and address legal risks across the organization.
- Perform other related duties as assigned. We’re a collaborative team, and sometimes that means stepping outside your usual scope to help with projects or priorities that advance our mission. As such, additional duties, responsibilities, and activities may change or be assigned as needed to meet team and organizational goals.
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited US law school; admission to practice in New York Tri-State Area.
- 2-3+ years or more broad experience in a not-for-profit institution, corporate in-house, or multi-departmental law firm.
- Spanish speaker preferred.
- Legal familiarity with, among other topics:
- Multiple financial instruments, including debt agreements.
- Philanthropic agreements and charitable solicitations.
- Technology data protection and future trends, including the use of AI and other innovations.
- Employment laws and processes.
- Ability to think critically and creatively in very fast-paced settings, with the ability to find innovative solutions to unique situations.
- Ability to exercise excellent judgment, discretion, and confidentiality with sensitive matters.
- Track record of serving multiple teams and senior managers in a diverse and multi-faceted organization.
- Ability to handle multiple assignments, meet deadlines, excel under pressure, and pay strong attention to detail.
- Supervisory skills.
- Ability to work in teams, collaborate, and build relationships with various team members.
In Person and Travel Requirements:
- Attend in-person quarterly staff meetings in New York City required.
- Hybrid remote/onsite schedule with required visits to NYC offices and other branches outside of NYC, based on business needs.
