Overview of Expansion Team:
Grameen America delivers its microfinance programs through a national network of branches comprised front-line field service personnel. We are building a dedicated, centralized growth & expansion team to accelerate our scale nationally. Key functions of the expansion team include upstream analysis to identify new markets and opportunities, on-ground market surveys, hiring and coaching of leaders and team members, and launch activities to go live.
The Market Expansion Analyst position plays a key role in the upstream activities and in the identifications of new opportunities. This position is ideal for someone who thrives in bringing together desk research and on-ground field work and merges quantitative and qualitative analysis. We are looking for someone who can understand the micro and small business entrepreneurial landscape in the U.S., map it to areas of need, and proactively find opportunities to expand its service to low-income communities nationally. This person must be comfortable with mapping tools, data analysis, secondary and primary research.
Job Responsibilities:
Market Analysis & Research:
- Perform high-level analysis (e.g. Target Addressable Market, Serviceable Addressable Market) nationally and for targeted regions. Provide insights on market size and growth potential.
- Conduct quantitative and qualitative research for each market, including demographics, income levels, cultural trends, neighborhood analysis, consumer trends, regulatory environment, etc.
- Identify high-potential markets and recommend actionable strategies for entry and growth.
- Prepare reports and presentations for leadership on market research findings and opportunities.
- Geo-mapping of existing members to shape and align areas of coverage. Assist in carving out territories for branches based on data-driven insights.
Primary research & community mapping:
- Conduct primary market research directly in the cities and markets that we are considering. Survey neighborhoods to assess demand and fit. Refine recommendations and strategies for entry.
- Scout and cultivate community connections as we foray into new markets.
- Assist with Go-To-Market activities including hiring of branch teams, soft outreach, customized marketing.
Project Management:
- Project- manage pre-launch activities across multiple internal teams and vendors.
- Manage timelines and resources for expansion projects.
Job Requirements:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in business, economics, or related field.
- Experience: 2+ years of experience in data analysis, market research, collecting and analyzing market data.
- Proficiency in Excel, mapping tools (Google Maps or GIS platforms), PowerPoint. Familiarity with SQL and BI tools is a plus.
- Analytical skills: ability to synthesize data into actionable insights.
- Strong communication skills including written and oral. Spanish knowledge is a plus.
- Organized, responsive and comfortable in managing a wide range of tasks.

In Person and Travel Requirements:
- Travel to new locations to conduct primary research and on-site surveys.
- Attend required in-person meetings in New York City.
- Hybrid work arrangement required in the New York City office.
