The Cost Accountant is responsible for setting up and maintenance of accurate process cost information, reconciliation of inventory accounts, participating in the month end close and budgeting process, and assisting the Controller in clinical accruals.
Responsibilities
Maintain inventory subledger and standard cost memo
Collaborates with Supply Chain and Finance to monitor inventory during the production and delivery cycle
Prepares journal entries to support month-end financial close deliverables
Plans, collects and analyzes data to drive the annual inventory standard cost and revaluation process
Update quarterly inventory reserve workpaper
Maintain contract summaries for manufacturing contracts
Ascertain invoices agree to manufacturing contracts before payment
Prepare budget for inventory and cost of goods sold
Prepare monthly reconciliations for inventory
Work with contract manufacturers to obtain inventory balances
Analyze and investigate material and price variances
Responsible for the accounting of accruals for clinical trial costs and related project accounting
Ensures SOX compliance for responsible area, including implementing improvements to improve the efficiency of current controls
Assist in ad-hoc projects
Conducts physical inventory audits, as required
Required / Education / Training / Certifications:
BS degree in accounting, with Masters/MBA preferred.
CMA certification required.
CPA License preferred.
Cost management experience required.
Comprehensive knowledge of GAAP, ability and aptitude to review all aspects of journal entry processing.
High attention to detail and deadlines.
Ability to effectively manage multiple projects and timelines and prioritize work.
Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with all levels of employees, management, and external agencies. Overall good team player.

Advanced quantitative and analytical skills.
Preferred Skills and Experience:
Strong interpersonal and communications skills.
Experience working in a manufacturing environment, Biotech/Pharma preferred.
3+ years relevant accounting/financial experience.
Experience with Great Plains / Microsoft Dynamics GP, preferred.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
Ability and desire to work in a fast-paced environment.
