Job Description:
The Staff Accountant provides support to the Accounting department with daily activities, including summary and monitoring of compliance with contracts or purchase orders, expense reports, GL and bank reconciliations. This position will interact with all levels of the organization in connection with correct expense recording, payments and budgets.

 Responsibilities:

·       Prepare bank and GL reconciliations.

·       Review expense reports to agree with policy in a timely and accurate manner.

·       Provide support as needed to the accounts payable department.

·       Ensure compliance with Catalyst’s accounting and internal control policies and procedures.

·       Review and prepare summary documentation for new contracts, and update existing summaries as required based on amendments, change orders and payments.

·       Participate in period-end financial close activities, such as, preparation of journal entries and prepaid support schedules.

·       Support SOX 404 compliance process.

·       Provide support as requested during quarterly reviews and annual financial and internal controls audits.

·       Assist in the annual budget process: prepare supporting schedules for various expenses, including payroll, rent, insurance and depreciation.

Qualifications and Strongly Preferred Skill Requirements: 

·       Bachelor's degree in Accounting or similar field from an accredited college or university. 

      Understanding of US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

·       Able to work independently and manage multiple priorities with minimal supervision.

·       Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

·       Professionalism and ability to interface effectively with all levels of management and outside parties.

·       Ensure security and confidentiality of data and information.

Preferred Skills and Experience:

·       Working towards CPA license, preferred.

·       Public accounting experience preferred.

·       Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.

·       Knowledge of Microsoft Great Plains software or equivalent accounting software preferred.

·       Excellent oral and communication skills.
