Responsibilities
The Manager of Technology ensures UP Partnership’s technology infrastructure, cybersecurity systems, and AI-enabled tools operate efficiently, securely, and in service of the organization’s mission. This position manages day-to-day IT operations in partnership with the Managed Service Provider (MSP) and coordinates with the Technology Governance Team to align technology decisions with strategic, ethical, and risk-management priorities.
This role focuses on implementation, vendor management, and operational reliability while ensuring compliance with organizational policies, budget guidelines, and data security standards. Specific responsibilities include:
Technology Operations & Vendor Management
- Coordinate all MSP activities, including user support, system maintenance, and incident escalation.
- Track MSP performance and service-level agreements; report quarterly to the Technology Governance Team.
- Manage hardware/software inventory, procurement, and license renewals within approved budgets.
- Ensure consistent uptime and functionality for systems including Microsoft 365, Zoom, and other key platforms.
Cybersecurity & Risk Management
- Maintain cybersecurity protocols (MFA, endpoint protection, data backups).
- Support annual cybersecurity reviews and incident response testing with the Technology Governance Team.
- Monitor compliance with data privacy standards relevant to UP Partnership systems.
- Provide staff training on digital safety and best practices.
AI & Automation Implementation
- Support implementation of AI-assisted tools (e.g., Microsoft Copilot) approved by the Technology Governance Team.
- Maintain documentation of AI workflows and ensure responsible use per organizational policy.
- Collaborate with the Data & Information team to ensure secure, policy-aligned integrations.
User Support & Training
- Coordinate help desk ticketing and support requests through the MSP.
- Identify recurring technical issues and propose training or process improvements.
- Assist with onboarding and technology orientation for new staff.
Continuous Improvement & Collaboration
- Maintain documentation of IT systems, configurations, and SOPs.
- Recommend improvements to strengthen performance, security, and user experience.
- Participate actively in the Technology Governance Team to align decisions with organizational goals and ethical standards.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, or related field.
- Minimum 3 years of experience managing IT operations or vendor or MSP relationships.
- Experience with Microsoft 365 administration and cybersecurity best practices.
- Nonprofit or mission-driven organization experience preferred.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong technical problem-solving and vendor management skills.
- Familiarity with AI tools and responsible technology practices.
- Clear communicator able to explain technical issues to non-technical audiences.
- High attention to detail and documentation.
- Commitment to equity, inclusion, and ethical technology use.
Preferred Certifications
- CompTIA Network+, Microsoft Administrator, or PMP.
- Experience managing hybrid or remote environments.
